new rescue
We rescued a beautiful girl two nights ago. We managed to capture her and she is now safe in a run with us. Someone contacted me saying there was a bunny running wild in the neighborhood in town, and both the RSPCA and Woodgreen told her they would not help - that they had a waiting list - shame on them, they are both so well funded. Several people who live in the neighborhood had tried to capture her but no one could - she is very clever. My husband managed to catch her after I offered her some pellets and she took some from my hand. She would hop away very nimbly after each pellet. But he did a rugby move on her, tackled her under his chest and scooped her into his arms. She is thin and scruffy but safe now.
She might be pregnant and is booked in for a scan (not an x ray) with our vets tomorrow as I won't get her her jabs if she is, until after the babies come.
She seems young, and she is full of curiosity. I am sure she was dumped and did not escape someone's garden as the whole neighborhood was aware of her presence and no one had claimed her. It is a miracle a car did not run over her, or a fox or dog get her. She is a giant, and has lovely fur even though it's tatty right now. We might rehome her if she is not pregnant, as we have to keep a certain number of bunnies here and rehome the rest for financial reasons, but I am in love with her already.

Re: new rescue
She is beautiful . Thank you for taking her in. I never fail to be horrified at what people will do when they are bored of their animal.

Re: new rescue
Oh, bless her heart
Thank you for taking her in. We need more people like you!
It horrifies me that any animal charity would turn her away or not even offer to help. You'd think the nature of their work would mean they would help any animal in need, no matter what. Shame on them

Re: new rescue
thank you all - here she is cleaned up, and she is napping in her house today, I have noticed, which is great, she slept under it at first; I want her to be warm and comfy - I can hardly wait to go into town to wilkinsons and buy her some chew baskets and a plastic ball, she is very curious about everything and playful
Re: new rescue
Oh she's so sweet
Is she a one-ear-up, one-ear-down kind of bun?

Aw, she is lovely
Our Reuben was a stray and he is such a nice, friendly little chap that we couldn't believe his previous owners didn't move heaven and earth to find him again. Their loss, our gain...

Re: new rescue
Thanks everyone, yes, she is a one up one down bunny! Our Levi is the same. We name one up one downs, names that start with L. My husband's idea.
