Re: ? Snuffles what to do?Update11.2.15
Bunny saw the vet in June 2014 when he was neutered, he checked him over, teeth good, no fleas or mites, & trimmed his nail, I take Bunny to a pet groomer just before close & she does his nails every 2 months now, the vets assistant didn't say anything about shots, I'm looking for a new vet,as I never met the man & he has bunnys, I was a brand new owner & Bunny wouldn't eat for a week, had to learn how to force feed & l was terrified he would die in my care, thank god for his assistant Melissa & a girl I met quite by accident who had 2 bunnys for 12 yrs.
Any way I don't feel there is anything wrong with Bunny, but look at your 2, came out of nowhere & as you said their always chewing bunnys not showing pain, that is so scary.
Bunny has never had shots, I guess I should start there.
Thank you so much for wanting to send Bunny a gift it was his b day on Saturday, so yyou'll be sending him a gift.
I have a hard time excepting anything from anyone family or friends, I'm the giver, so this is special, your my first HH friend & your the first to give Bunny a gift. Thank you from the bottom of my heart

Bunnies teeth, they are such a nuisance, I bet that was sore for the little one. Not for much longer though.

Grrrrrrr Teeth!
Fingers crossed though that this will sort the problem out for them both
I will be thinking of them both tomorrow Claudia x
Daisy and Charlie had their dentals today and are already back to their normal selves thank goodness.

Aw - bunny teeth are a ruddy nuisance. Even with the best possible diets some bunnies will develop spurs. Rosie had an ulcer on her tongue from her most recent spurs.
Rosie is completely back to normal today - am glad to hear that Daisy and Charlie are too. Loads of vibes coming your way, Claudia and hope that your two recover quickly also.

Honestly, those pesky teefs!! Fingers crossed they aren't a regularly occurring issue after they have their dentals. Vibes for a speedy recovery for both of them! xxx

Snuffles on Bertie update 11.02.15 I'm worried
Hello every bun!
Firstly thanks for all the good wishes prior the surgery today
Bubbles doing ok came out of Ga no big problem. Now sulking but this is expected and will last for two days until she decides that sulking is boring and fighting me is much more fun. Also called respite. Just had a load of metacam so all easy on this front.
Bertie not so straight forward. I try to keep the post short.
He took much longer to come out of Ga, which is what happened back in September when he had his last dental treatment.when collecting them I spoke to the vet nurse on duty and asked whether he was weight today. Of course she said opening up his page on the pc. He whhatttt? Oh, he lost weight! Significantly. From 3.2 kg in September to 2.38 kg today. I nearly fainted. Hang on. This is not only down to dental disease. He started to loose weight prior to September slowly but steadily. Now I have to say that I had a s..t day as I was traveling to and back from Milton Keynes in just under8 hours to arrive at the vet just befor 19.00.
She agreed this needs to be looked at and suggested to have him checked over in a fortnight. Do I want to wait this long? No! No I don't. So asked to have bloods taken tonight and then results would be back on follow up appointment. She checked with vet on duty, not our Bob but a very skill ful surgoen. No in a fort night would be fine as they want to put emla cream on to reduce the discomfort. Of course if I'm worried in the meantime to call earlier:scratch:
I'm worried. My boy is loosing weight quickly. The curve on the screen was a pure drop.
What options have I got?
Call on Monday to speak to bob certainly considered and likely to happen.
Try to feed Bertie up. Yes of course what is a good diet to give? I Will check on other posts to find out.
Am I to over anxious?
What do you hoppers make of this?
All ideas, thoughts, suggestions and so are welcome!

Re: ? Snuffles what to do?Update11.2.15
Goodness, I don't think you are over anxious. Bertie weighs less than my crew and they are all smaller in size than Bertie. I certainly think blood tests and maybe Xrays are a good idea, and yes speak to Bob as soon as you can.
I would increase Bertie's pellet rations and maybe consider feeding a young/growing rabbit variety as they will have a higher calorific value. I know a lot of people suggest barley rings but I have read elsewhere that they may cause stasis.
Rolled/porridge oats can be useful for weight gain - a few dry are fine but if giving more than a few they are best made into a water porridge. You could mix in some banana of baby food to tempt Bertie.

Re: ? Snuffles what to do?Update11.2.15
He doesn't need tempting really. He eats willingly it seems he doesn't get anything out of all the food like it is passing tnhrough him without the benefits. But thank you sixer for the reassurance.
Over the next two days there kis a newly qualified vet on in the surgery. So not the time to call. Bob is in on Monday's. I will call then and maybe arrange for an evening appointment. I just don't want to waste 10 days were nothing is happening.

Re: ? Snuffles what to do?Update11.2.15
After a good night sleep I have to say I'm at least surprised if and not pleased how yesterday went. They had both phone numbers and I specifically asked to be called if there is any need. He had a GA, we could have done the x ray yesterday. I guess they just didn't pick up on this but why? It is obvious though. I feel I want to talk to them in a clear and polite manner.

Re: ? Snuffles what to do?Update11.2.15
I am wondering whether the vets want to wait for Bertie to return to proper diet for a while before testing him as a period of decreased diet due to teeth would skew the results. What are his poos like at present?
Have you considered a probiotic? Burgess are now doing dualcare recovery diet which can be fed in pellet form as well as wet. It may be worth giving a try.

Poos are good.
I have some oxbow pellets with probiotic. But he doesn't like them very much.
He chomps his greens though so I will try to tempt him with banana and other things that are usually only for treats.
Will see whether I can get a sample of the burgess one to try. Anything goes. Thanks Cheryl!

Oh no, how scary!
I would also be wanting it looked into further. Speak to your vet on Monday, he may at least be able to give an explanation as to why they're holding off...
In the mean time, lots of vibes for Bertie and yourself

Jo hornetsly
his tummy is fine. I don't know why he does loose the weight, but be inclined to say it is not his tummy. Poos are beuatiful and plenty, he is bright enough in himself. It seems he can't get the nutrition amount of what is fed to him , Which is fair amount of all nice and good healthy bunny things. It has be going on for some time with. A sudden dop.
Maybe it is me panicking but the big C zis showing its ugly face to me.
I will speak to Bob on Monday and decide from there.

Hi Folks,
Can I please ask for a load of top up vibes for Bertie.
He is not doing well.
I kept him on metacam but he is now not eating enough. Nibbles on some greens then drops it and walks away. Does not eat pellets either. Tried to moisten them but still not taking any.
Even treats like crunchies, banana, raisins are sniffed, chinned and then ignored. Just spoken to the vet,Bob is on holiday, so we gonna see Anna at 16.00. I'm worried.
