Arabella is training well and settled so well
Hi HH,
I thought I would just update you all on our Queen Arabella.
She is so easy to treat train as she is such a foody. All she wants is food, every time we leave the kitchen she is there waiting to see if we have noms for her . she fgoes into her carrier when told, knowing she will get one and also knowing as she has a small ear infection, that I will shut the carrier and put it on the sofa then put those horrible ear drops she so hates in both ears, 2 drops, twice a day.
She is so easy quick at learning and she is a little love, with a cheeky side too and very playful like Dougal used to be, only she never sleeps , I swaer she does not know how, not during the day anyway. Wait a minute.... she is a sleep on her side now, wont be for long, she moves as soon as I do as she is my shaddow bunny.
Love her to bits and she loves it here, so settled and always lying in happy positions and nose kissing, bumbping and sitting near us. She loves me and it is a nice feeling. I still miss our boy king and cry and always will, but she does help a lot and we have given her such a good home.

Re: Arabella is training well and settled so well
Hey, sounds like you and Arabella (very regal name... kinda got a Spanish ring) are having as much fun as Henry and I. Getting into a new bunny relationship can be fun and, sometimes, very surprising.
Food is a great trainer. Henners is a foodie as well and he knows the travel box means something tasty. I had to give him treatment for fur mites and the travel box proved almost as useful as a second pair of hands only I stood his box in the bath!
Are you thinking of training Arabella any tricks? I may try training Henry a few things, Loll had a small repertoire of easy tricks. Cuddles are just as good though.

It sounds as though she's settled in brilliantly and you've all fallen in love with each other. Dougal would be proud

Lovely to read sweets, I am so pleased. You had a lot of love to give and to had to go to another bun. I am so glad she has settled in so well and giving so much pleasure.

Yes it is a great and wonderful thing getting to know your pets isnt it. I am finding she is a lot like Dougal in some ways with certain things and in others she is completely different. She is a lot more outgoing and not skitish or shy like our King was but she is playful and loving like he was and she does certain things that I say to her "that's a Dougie trait".
I am hoping to train her next onto my lap then I can start picking her up now and then, just to keep her good with that. I have not been able to as got a lot of bad pain at the moment in my side, stomache and back now too and has been like this for about a month. I do not want to have to let her go and hurt her. I would rather wait than risk that and if I do it from my knee it will be easier. I want to teach her all sorts. She has the carrier down now and she learnt that so fast. I would like to teach her hoppy up, like we did with Dougal so she will hop onto things for me, I am un sure what else but I will think of things as I think it will be good for us both. She is very clever like Dougal was, I just wish we had kept it up with him. She is not at cuddle stage yet but she does like to lie near to me and likes me sitting on the floor with her so hopefully eventully she will allow me to cuddle her. Dougal did but only on the floor, he was not a bunny who would be picked up at all but cuddle, brush, chase etc he was.

Re: Arabella is training well and settled so well
Being 3 Henry seems somewhat set in his ways and I was told by the Rescue that he doesn't "approve" of being picked up. They were so right and I am concentrating on floor loving and travel box training as I have arthritis in my hands and don't trust them to hold a wriggly rabbit in mid-air. At the vets, which is a small pet animal practice only, they are used to buns with handling issues and he isn't aggressive, just a big wriggly lump WITH CLAWS!
Henry is good with being brushed, he even askes for me to use the hand brush on him when cleaning in his crate!
I don't think I shall encourage him to jump up on things ... he did jump on a dining chair once and from their to the phone shelf and on into the window; he scared the bejeebers out of me.
I think I may try to train him to do a trick or two like I did Loll.
