What gorgeous bunnies, but all with such sad stories. They are in luck now that they have found you to give them much needed love and attention. I have fallen in love with them all, but poor wee Lucky has got to be my favourite. :luv:

Re: Yet more CARROT buns...
Is Lucky male or female? He/she is certainly gorgeous... so sad that someone gave him/her up
Re: Yet more CARROT buns...
Lucky is a male. He was one of the first buns we rehomed around 5 years ago. He went to a lovely home but they didn't know much about buns. Lucky developed an ear infection but they didn't catch it early enough. They took him to their vet, their vet wanted to pts cos they said he wouldn't have quality of life. His owners came to us, we went to the vet together and fought his case, the vet eventually agreed to treat him but told us he was reporting us as Lucky was then a welfare case and we were being cruel keeping him alive, we told him 'go ahead' but at least give him the treatment so he had a chance. Owner was by then, distraught! We took Lucky back and nursed him till he could cope with his 'different view of the world'. We gave him back to his owners but they retrned him to us cos they found it distressing watching him wander around with his head on the wrong way, and the rolling frightened them. Lucky's been with us ever since (around 3 years now I think ).
He's such a happy cheeky boy! He has his own room to go into every night, he binkies, he sprays ( ), he loves being massaged and getting nose rubs, and we're hoping to introduce him to a girly bun in the next few weeks.

Re: Yet more CARROT buns...
Yes he does, it's normal for him now. He does a 'live life to the max' run around his pen when it's raining, the run is only half covered and he likes to have a quick sprint out to get water in his eye, likes to live dangerously....

The others consisted of a bonded threesome and a single doe. I'm presuming it was because the threesome was less 'destructive' and could be housed in only one hutch and run, the single doe had been attacked by Timmy and had previoously been treated for an abscess on her rump. They decided not to rebond her with Timmy and Bambi and keep her as a housebun. Timmy has a bit of a reputation as a 'wife beater' but I can't split them up cos they love each other and he hasn't had a go at her for months

Re: Yet more CARROT buns...
Yes, she's regularly out in the grass runs, she's a happy girl now. She loves to dig scrapes and lie in them. She was a bit confused when she first came to us as she was put into a 6ft hutch with an attached run and she didn't know what to do with all the space, but now it's utilised to the full!
She's now been spayed and vaccinated and is waiting to be bonded to another bun called Charlie who lives in a nearby town. She's a lovely girl and adores having a cuddle.

Re: Yet more CARROT buns...
aww bless Lucky. I'm so glad you didn't give up on him.
I do think it's a bit mean that the owners found it 'too distressing' to look at him! Think how the poor bunny must have felt being rejected like that
I am glad he is enjoying life now
