Never relax Empty Never relax

Post by woodwench Wed Jan 13, 2016 6:26 am

After the last couple of horrendous months with Henry I was just starting to relax.
He's doing really well, I told myself.
He's eating like a ravenous shark, I told myself.
He's taking the Baytril with no side effects, I told myself.
His poops are splendid, magnificent, glorious, I told myself.
He's as cheeky as old Nick, I told myself.
He's binkying freely again, I told myself.

Then I saw it.....
The dread stripe across his nose......

HE'S MOULTING Mad Hissy Mad Hissy Mad Hissy Mad Hissy Mad Hissy Mad Hissy

I am so sorry love, is it guaranteed to be a bad time or might it be OK?  I am lucky with Holly, I hardly notice it when she has a moult.

Last year at this time Henry had a mini moult which, while bad enough, wasn't nowhere near as horrendous as his summer moult when he was hardly eating, got an hairy tummy and had a more-or-less permanently blocked nose (with his own fur). It was three months of hell.
I'm hoping this another mini moult. I'm not up to a BIG JOB yet.

Ha ha, Oh bless him, I love plucking the fur out when they are moulting I find it therapeutic.  Holly has so few strands though and I don't think I have ever seen one on her face.

The Zoom Groom came out tonight.
His face is okay but his cheeks are shedding.
I have to tie a handkerchief over my nose when I'm grooming him, I can't handle the fur up my nose.

Henry isn't too bad. When I first got it he hated the Zoom Groom, but now he gets all unnecessary about it, going daft licking the carpet throughout a session"

Not cold in my sitting room and though several times a day he has the opportunity to roam throughout the house he just hops through into the dining room. There he seems to quickly realise the temperature as dropped a few degrees and spins round heading for the fireside.
He loves his comforts.

My bedroom is always warm so Holly has somewhere to go if she feels chilly.  Being a Rex and having very little fur, I think she does sometimes feel the cold.
