I give up, I just GIVE UP....
Of all the stupid rabbits... mine takes the fenugreek!
All the months of suffering with his injured muscles, the cage confinement, the little relapses....
He was doing so well. No sign of any aches and pains and slowly he was returning to his old self.
Then this afternoon he hopped up on to my foot stool and after about five minutes of being King of the Castle for some reason .... probably not even known to himself ... he decides to flop!
Result: he up-skittles the stool, falls with the stool and is now suffering again.
Idiot rabbit.... flopping on a stool, I ask you!
Now I'm back to worriting about him over doing it. Maybe the crate should come back!

Re: I give up, I just GIVE UP....
if it wasn't so stupid, it would be funny...! oh dear Henry what are you doing to your poor mum!
Maybe just the threat of the crate, from what we hear he is as bad in the crate!

Re: I give up, I just GIVE UP....
But at least in the crate he doesn't try napping on a stool that is only just big enough for him to sit on!
I knew making a full recovery from this injury was going to take time but to have a set back from such a daft incident....
Stool is gone now and I'm blockading every chair that he might try hopping into, though he's never, to my knowledge, been up in a chair. I feel like putting him in a straight-jacket!

Re: I give up, I just GIVE UP....
Well, he's not quite himself. I think he's in a bit of discomfort... especially after he's been lying around sleeping for any length of time. All the old symptoms are there ... a slight change in eating routine and in pooing (which I'm watching carefully as he is moulting too and grooming himself so I'm aware of hairy poos).
He is eating all his food, drinking well, moving around okay though not as much as usual..... he's "done his back in" again as they say. This is going to take a LOOOOOOOOOOOOOONg time to recover from, if he ever does fully recover, he may be prone to muscle strain now.

Re: I give up, I just GIVE UP....
He was so very happy and, apart from the moult, things were great. Just like they used to be. I was always watching for silly things and worrying about binkies and such (always will be now), but he was very happy, relaxed and enjoying life.
Now he looks scruffy (moult) and often rather miserable. Unfortunately giving pain relief would only encourage him into normal behaviour and exacerbate the problem. We've got to sit it out again!
No foot stool for me!

Sorry to hear he is suffering for his antics woodwench. Could you try a regular dose of Arnica to keep the inflamation down?

Re: I give up, I just GIVE UP....
Oh bless him. I wonder if he has a long term problem? Annabelle had a crumbling spine that she was very sensitive to. She was therefore on Metacam and the last year or so tramadol, but she wasnt like Henry..... she was never big into exercise or jumping about so there was little chance of her over exerting herself on the pain meds.

Re: I give up, I just GIVE UP....
He's starting to show signs of recovery. It's just a matter of rest and plenty of it ... but try telling that to a rabbit who's suddenly feeling better after days of soreness and boredom. Too daft a binky could do it...

Re: I give up, I just GIVE UP....
Glad to hear he is feeling a little better. Hopefully nature will take it's course and the discomfort will keep him quiet for long enough for it to heal.... I then again knowing Sir Henry, probably not!
Re: I give up, I just GIVE UP....
I am so glad he is on the mend again love, let's hope it is permanent this time and he doesn't do anything silly. Thanks for keeping us posted.

Re: I give up, I just GIVE UP....
He's more relaxed and I've moved everything that I think might prove hazardous upstairs; it's not easy deciding what can be hazardous to a rabbit in Henry's situation.
It's impossible to stop things like spontaneous binkies etc. though.
Just have to hope for the best though I do have an awful feeling that there is a possibility that Henry will be prone to repartitions of this problem throughout his life.

Re: I give up, I just GIVE UP....
Oh sweetie, I do see your problem, you have to think like a bun and decide what he may do. I really hope it isn't a life long thing as you say and binkies cannot be stopped. They are lovely to see but if a bun is supposed to be relaxing? Thanks for keeping us informed hun.
