Now what we gonna do?

After Bubbles passing. Just got Vernon back.
He saw her at the vets but seems to search the house for her.
Shall I deep clean all litter trays as her smell be on them or leave them for comfort?
I don't want to get another bun at moment but know he is not happy to be single.
How do you help a rabbit to grief?

I'd leave the trays tonight. If you have several trays maybe clean them one at a time so her scent goes gradually.
As for helping him grieve ... a lot is playing it by ear. Like humans, all buns grieve differently. Just be there for him and give him lots of love and attention. He may recover quickly, he may take months. Poor boy... give him lots of nose rubs from me, I need a bun to get all the rubs I have going now.

I do as well as I had moved them into the second bedroom warren last night so it's all one level as I thought jumping won't be good for her. He is withdrawn in his hidy that's it. On top my heating and hot water has gone off. I got the wood burner in the lounge but other parts of house are cold. Wonder whether I move his hidy into the lounge and have / make him stay with me. To much change in 24 hours for a bun who doesn't like change? I could then clean the trays out in the morning just keep us safe and warm tonight

Poor Vernon, and poor you

When we lost Temperance there was a huge change in MJ's behaviour, he became very withdrawn and stopped eating. We let him stay with us as much as possible. He's not much of a people bun but he stayed closer than usual, and we gave him as much nose rubs as he wanted. I did not clean at all until I had to. When I cleaned the litter tray I only changed the litter, didn't clean the actual tray. I don't know if thats the best thing to do.
Ultimately we had to get MJ a friend. Something I found very difficult and I wasn't ready for, but we had to put MJs needs first (his healthy weight is about 2.1kg, at his lowest he dropped to 1.64kg). It was definitely the right thing for MJ, although it still took him a very long time to get back to some sort of normality.

I hope Vernon is feeling better soon x

I had to clean litter tray but only changed content.
And replaced no scrubbing no disinfectant
He has nibbled on some herbs and fruit.
Doesnt want to come downstairs and I don't want to force him.
Remembered he responds to French language which I don't speak at all but put Edith Piaf cd on for him. At least he came out of hides into hutch laying stretched out. I will go and check on him regularly

Oh dear, my advice would be to keep him as close to you as possible so he always has the companionship. Holly is with me all the time and I know when she is having down days. I hope the poor little love is OK hunny and I hope you are too. Please keep us posted.

I tried a few times to bring him to the lounge but he is having none of it. Straight back into the warren in his hide. All night he stayed there.
I sat with him for some time and he eat apple and basil from my hand. But doesn't want to be touched/stroked. I'm starting my nights tonight. Need the money

Just give him time sweetie, I am sure he will come around. Thank you for the updates.

Update on Vernon
He is not coping well
He is eating but his behaviour is just weird. Still avoiding any contact shying away and hiding
Last night he thumped his hinds for about 15 minutes I caught him ( don't wanna chase him)after probing with crunchies and took him into the lounge and wrapped him in a towel. We had a cuddle but as soon as I let him go he will run and I mean make a dash for the warren back into hiding!
So I made a decision and contacted wind whistle warren. I have not adopted from Alice yet but want to spread the rescues equally.
We are waiting for a home check and hopefully get him a hunbun again. My poor boy.

It's a grieving process, soundwave turned into a fiend when we lost miranda everyone was game to him.

Thanks Gemma, I'm losing hope and sight. I want to be here for him but what if bunny doesn't want this?

I got Jetfire a couple of days after losing miranda and it was too soon, i should have let him come round on his own and I feel guilty for that.
Do what is best for him and you, trust me you will know when he is ready

At least he pushed his food dish from his hide into the middle of the warren. Empty!

That's good least he still eating, but still keep an eye on weigh soundwave was eating everything but his body wasn't absorbing it

He is booked with the vet this pm for VHD 2 vaccination. Will ask them to check him out just in case.
Continue with rescue remedy in water bowel.
Worn clothes in his hidy
And playing Edith Piaf for him.

All went well. Vaccinated nails clipped and checked
Still a bit of a spur or rather misalignment on top left molar
Weight stable.
I have only two nights this week canceled the rest but will have to work a bit more next week.
Just hope he rallies or wind whistle warren gets in touch.
