Really worried about Holly Empty Really worried about Holly

Post by jolovesbunnies Thu Apr 06, 2017 9:45 am

I am really worried about Holly as she has not been up to me for a cuddle for over a week. She has periods like this but normally they only last one or two days. I have a new pet a Pygmy Hedgehog and I am wondering if this is the reason. Mind you I had one before and it didn't make any difference to her. Crying or Very sad

I feel as if I have lost my bunny friend and am so worried about things never going back to way they were. Any thoughts would be very welcome. Thank you.

Is she eating OK and pooping/peeing normally?
If "yes", then she is probably letting you know she isn't impressed with the new pet....
She will "come round" eventually. Buns can sulk like no other creature.

Thank you ladies for your kind replies and yes, everything else is perfectly normal. She came up for a brief fuss this morning so I hope we have turned a corner. I will keep you updated.

How are you both? Bunnies are masters in sulking with and without reason.

Things are a little better thank you love but she still isn't snuggling into me. She comes up and licks me sometimes and will lie next to me whilst I stroke her. It wouldn't be so bad if things were working out with Jazzie but all she does is huff. Assuming that this is the cause of our rift of course. I used to get through my days looking forward to snuggles with Holly and now that seems to have gone and I so hope she eventually comes around. Thank you for your kind words love and yes, they do love to make us pay sometimes. I will keep you updated.

Could there
Be any other physical reason for her to act out of normal?

Holly seems back to her old self and I am putting it down to moulting, even thought Rexes don't moult as much as other buns. I think I have my bunny back and I am so happy and relieved. Very Happy

She may have the spring-time-blues!
Maybe a trip to the vets might be a good idea.

I was wondering about that love, she is due to have her claws and teeth checked soon anyway. She is a little distant again but I am just comforting her whenever I can and I can see by her little face that she could be happier. She is still eating like a horse though and reacts when the treat bag is rustled but she definitely has the blues which is a great way of putting it hun. Thanks for your kind comments, I will keep you posted.

I was just away to say, if there aren't any additional issues I would try not to worry too much. Spring does funny things to these does!

Thanks Thumper love, apart from approaching me for a few head strokes, nothing has changed. Other than that though, she is as fit as a fiddle and soon reacts when her treat bag is heard.

Thanks CB love, she is still very offish and will not come to me for a snuggle. I wouldn't mind if she had been like this for this length of time before. She has had a couple of aloof days in the past but she has soon come back. Very concerned.

Post by jolovesbunnies Sun Apr 30, 2017 2:38 pm

Dear Friends, Just to get you know that Holly hasn't still hasn't been up to me for cuddles at all and I am getting really worried. It has been weeks now. Sometimes she will come and give me a quick wash but that is all. She is having a heavy moult and I wondered if that could be the cause but she has never been this distant before so I am going to phone a friend of mine who is an expert in animal behaviour. I will keep you informed. Just wanted to get it off my chest.

Hugs

Moulting can bring them down a bit and make them not so friendly but she seems to be carrying it on a long time. You haven't changed anything have you ... like washing liquids, soaps, bath products perfume? A change of your personal scent might have upset her.
I hope you get everything sorted Jo.

Thank you Woodwench love but she seems to be getting a bit better again although the last time I said this she went back to being miserable. No, nothing has changed, she is used to different soap powder smells (as we tend to buy what is on offer) and we always used the same soap and I only wear perfume when I go out. Thanks for your kind words lovey, I will keep you posted.

Getting better thank you darling, my friend who is an animal behaviourist said to keep bribing her to come to me and last night for the first time she came up for a fuss when there was no treat, so I think we are getting somewhere. I will keep you posted and thank you for asking. Very Happy
