Outsmarted...
As some of you may know I live with my partner and his housemate/friend Ben. The housemate isn't very keen on my little bun Dodge as he is rightly named the bunny of mass destruction. From chewing cables, wallpaper, shoes to peeing on the sofa and chairs he hasn't really been in his good books recently. Especially now since he is "hormonal" and sees him as the ideal mating machine, he is really beginning to annoy Ben. Dodge being the clever little blighter knows how to climb up and down the stairs with ease so we try to keep all the doors shut to prevent him being in places where he's not allowed....specifically Bens bedroom.
A few minutes ago we noticed that Dodge was nowhere to be seen which only meant one thing....yup he would be in Bens bedroom spreading his golden nuggets in unwanted places and the possibility of him piddling on a lovely cushioned bed.....the perfect place for doing it in comfort. We hadnt heard any signs of distres from Ben so AJ went to check on him, just incase he hadnt noticed his visitor.
After 5 minutes it turned out they were both trying to coax Dogeroo out from under his bed. Ben explained that Dodge likes to play games with him by teasing him. He said he waits at the end of his bed staring at him then coaxes him into making a move to shoo him out of the room then at the last moment when Ben makes his move Dodge binkies his way under the bed and waits for the chase to get him out to begin.
We asked ben why he doesnt like Dodge, he replied with "I do like him, its not that I get outsmarted by him.....its the fact that I know I am going to get outsmarted by him"
sorry long post It just made me giggle

Re: Outsmarted...
I am quite sure they are more clever than they let on. When I had Fiver as my only bunny and he lived in the house he spent many hours in the spare bedroom chewing his way through the fabric that covers the bed to create the ultimate warren. Once in he could never be removed until he decided HE was ready.....even with bribery, shouting and bed tipping!
Nowdays it's tha cats that make use of the hideyhole and they can be coaxed out with the rattle of biscuits.
Phil dosn't really get on with Mack because when he lived in the front room with us he used to 'pick' on him (his words) and harrass him whilst he was sat ont he floor.

they are definately more clever than they let on. I have the same problem with stubborn buns that refuse to come out from under the bed when they get under.
We have noticed that dodge has managed to chew his way through the baby gate that we had to stop him getting out of the living room. Theres now a Dodge shaped hole in the gate...I suppose its partly my fault for thinking it was fool proof to get a baby gate made out of material
poor phil for being made a victim of bullying

Re: Outsmarted...
Dodge sounds like a right character.
Bunnies can be so naughty, always going
into places they know they are not supposed to.

Mack was quite mean, he used to nip his legs and arms and tug on his clothing. I'm amazed Phil put up with it for so long actually because having been on the receiving end myself it WAS very painful....like being pinched....and often bruised!

Poor Phil....I doubt AJ would put up with being bitten. He must have lots of patience.
Luckily we don't have the problem with nipping buns...just the destroying and humping.

Re: Outsmarted...
My bunnies are smart - they know exactly what they are doing.... I have been trying to catch Sparkle every day for a little cuddle but he is just too quick... if I open the top door of the hutch he runs to the bottom, if I open the bottom he runs to the top, and then he runs into the run and goes to the furthest corner where I cant reach..... grrrr!!! Smart Bunnies are so annoying sometimes!

Re: Outsmarted...
My two can tell when it is bedtime and then they get into places that are hard to move them from. If I haven't blocked off the end of the A-frame, Wolfie is down his burrow and WILL NOT come out. He is little stinker. Last night when I got them put away, I opened the door to give them a stroke goodnight. He tried to rush me and push his way out!
