Wave

Did the little guys nails last night, and thought I'd post how I do them, and I hope you'll share your methods too, as I'm always looking for better ways to do this. Smile

I use the Bunny Burrito method that Thea introduced me too and bring out a paw at a time. I talk to him constantly, stroke his head in between nails, and these days, he just lets me get on with it, which is pretty good as the first time we did this, we made him bleed Embarassed

As I'm an old man now (Laughing) I have to use reading specs and the head torch from my bike, which is amazing, focuses the light just onto the paw.
I presently use guillotine style clippers, are there better ones? oh and is there a way so see the quick with dark nails, as I'm sure I could take more off, but don't want to risk it?

I use scissor style clippers, they're meant for cats and small dogs but they work great; as for method Richard sits a bun on his knee and holds tight and I just pull the paw out slightly - works great for us!

I use these scissors too. I find them easier than the gilloutine clippers as you dont have to insert the claw.

That is fantastic Jay, I love the light idea. I think it is a good idea to trade tips with visuals on how we all do stuff.

I have just wet myself laughing looking at this, you look like a dentist....if you came at me like that with a pair of guillotine clippers I would be OFF! Laughing

Personally I trance my bunnies out by using the position you have adopted there, but I dont wrap them in a towel. I have the set of claws I intend to clip at my knees so they are out in the light and easier to cut and I use a pair of non-spring loaded clippers, as in my experience these seem to crush the claw rather than cut it cleanly.

I also have some antiseptic powder to hand and some cotton pads in case of an accident.

I'll look out for the scissor type then, thanks, and Sooz..it's frightening Laughing , I wouldn't have to have the light if my eyesight was good and Berts had clear nails, but it actually makes a massive difference to me, but as you say, personally, I'd be off like a shot !!

they are totally goegeous pics! he is so squishy! he looks like he should be in a pram! anyway! I use guillotine clippers which seem to work really well and cut v cleanly and a torch to shine through the nails so i can see the quick - esp with barney who has black nails.

He looks like he should be in a salon somewhere.

Jay 'Anything nice planned for the weekend, Sir?'

Bertie - *eyes closed - thinks - stop the small talk and just get on with the nails - and I want some sparkly bits added as it is Christmas and I have to be nice for Theo next week.*
