Have I misread the signs? - U/D
Monday afternoon, Roo's prospective wife arrived. She is a Nethie x & approx 10 weeks old. I wanted to give her time to settle, visit the vet & allow Roo time to adjust to new smells in the house etc.
She settled well in her dog crate & Roo on Monday was not that interested, a quick sniff & he resumed his usual afternoon/evening passtimes. After visiting the vet Tuesday with her, he seemed to have missed her & his vigil began. He hasn't left the side of her crate other than to visit the loo, eat & a quick romp in the garden.
He hasn't shown any signs of aggression towards her & seems content just to sit/lie beside the cage. In fact he has acted like a lovesick pup for the last 3 days
So this afternoon was set aside to introduce them properly..... not quite disaster, but she has a little less fur & we are back to looking through the bars again. I'm following all the usual steps... neutral territory etc
So what I'm wondering is did I misread the love struck look? I'd really appreciate any views/advice.

To be fair, Roo only had a mouthful & she doesn't appear to have any bald patch.
Because of her size & the fact that I couldn't see her beneath Roo's body of fur, I may have over reacted & intervened to quickly
She is so fragile looking & with Roo's past history with his brother, I have to admit to being over cautious, even though I have bonded 2 previous pairs in the past (years ago), but none as small as this little girl.
The thing is, prior to this afternoon, he has stayed with her, even forgoing his luxuries & laid very relaxed by the side of her crate. She has done happy flops in her tray... but since this afternoon, Roo has gone into sulk mode & has not gone near her crate
I am just worried now that the longer I leave them seperate the harder it may be.

you need strong nerves and lots of things to take their minds off each other so they are busy doing other things and forget that the other rabbit hasn't always been there. and make sure they are in a small enough space for long enough. i slept rgw night in the shed with mine to make sure there weren't any proper fights. is nerve wracking!

My two buns fought when they were first introduced and it is quite scary as you don't know if you should stop them or not. I did what you are doing and kept them separate but able to smell each other and it did work out fine in the end.
Mine actually broke out to get to each other when I wasn't around and I think they had a bit of a dust up cos there was fur lying around in several places. By the time I realised, they had sorted out who was boss and were quite happily relaxing, with Wolfie looking a bit sheepish. I haven't had any problems since.

Re: Have I misread the signs? - U/D
Good news ..... Roo has taken to his new wife... Thursday night was a very long one without sleep I did have a worrying phase where Roo kept sitting on her, but I am pleased that has now ceased
By Thursday afternoon, Roo was getting fed up so we removed the pen & allowed them the run of the kitchen on Friday evening. Some chasing ensued for 24 hours (no fur pulling or agression though), but by Sunday morning all was quiet & both were shattered (they had been playing humpty dumpty all night). Both now snuggle up together, eat together & groom one another, so am pleased with progress.
I do have yet another question though. Roo only used to use his litter tray at night, as during the day he would beg to be let out to use his garden. He has been begging to go out since Monday morning & is also asking to leave the kitchen. As I won't allow him out, he is now sulking & last night didn't eat very much of his veggies. I don't want him to start stressing & get the grumps, neither do I want his bad mood to be taken out on his new wife, but at the same time I know it is wise to keep them confined to the kitchen for a while longer.
Any thoughts & advice would be most welcome!

Glad to hear that they've bonded, I'm sorry I can't help with the toilet question, I'm sure someone will soon.
