Dearest Truffles
As you all know, Truffles went to the Bridge on January 7th 2009. I won't go into the circumstances or how wrecked I was, but I wanted to post a short tribute to a beautiful bunny, and a true friend.
Truffles came to me in the summer, from Woodside Animal Shelter. He'd been bought along with his brother for two 6 year old children (who soon got bored), and kept in a very small hutch. He was originally named Floppy, and his brother Fluffy. Fluffy and Floppy were not friends (no bunny would be in such a cramped cage) and Floppy was definitely getting the short end of the stick. When he came to me, he'd never had a proper diet, and suffered with runny poos all the time I had him - we soon learned that blackberey leaves would sort him out, and he could often be seen hoarding them in a corner. He was very dirty, having been peed on by Fluffy for months, and it was three weeks of careful grooming before his coat shone again.
Within a few weeks, he was a changed bun. He adored Tibbs, and would follow her anywhere, even on her numerous escape attempts. He soon realised that escaping meant less food though, and was always much easier to catch! We named him Truffles because for the first few days we never saw him without him truffling away on something.
He was the friendliest bunny I ever knew, and would come bounding over to say hello to anyone who walked past his hutch. He never liked being picked up, but he would flop out on your lap for hours if given the chance. Sometimes for a treat he came indoors and flopped out in front of the fire watching telly.
Sleep well Truffles. We will miss you forever xxx

Oh that is so sad to hear about Truffles going to the bridge. It sounds like he had a lovely time living with you. It must have been like going to bunny heaven after the rotten start in life he had. RIP Truffles

What a lovely tribute to a beautiful bunny. Your intervention, nurture and care for him restored him, and brought him back to life and I'm sure you'll miss him terribly. I'm so sorry Kathy xx
