Gloria not well u/d Better now
Had to take Gloria to the vet today because she just wasn't herself.
I have been giving them Panacur every morning for the last century (OK 8 days! - It just feels like forever). Before I give them their pellets in the morning, I have been putting it on a piece of veg and they have been eating it OK, then they get their breakfast. Today, Wolfie ate his bit of cabbage, but Gloria wouldn't touch hers and legged it out of the hutch before the pellets and wouldn't come out of the run. I got her to go back to the hutch, but she wasn't interested in the pellets and wouldn't eat anything. She started digging scrapes and lying full stretch which is quite unusual for her.
She seemed really lively at the vets and bounced all over the place. It did make me wonder if I was over-reacting and he didn't think her tummy was swollen, but thought the not eating was worthy of concern. He gave her metacam, rimadyl and baytril and I have five sachets of recovery to try to feed her now.
She is in a carrier in the kitchen and will be getting syringed regularly. I don't have my spare hutch as Felix is living in it, so she will have to stay in the carrier which is a bit of a naus. I will give a friend a phone tomorrow and see if I can borrow their spare one for her so she has more room.
So vibes please as she is such a beautiful lady.

Re: Gloria not well u/d Better now
Have managed to get her to take a bit of that recovery mix that is meant to be eaten but really goes all over your, the rabbit and the floor! It honks too. She has eaten a little bit of carrot and bitten into some hay but it was angry biting. Had to get my hands out of the way as she was reall fed up with the syringe.
She is in her carrier in a bed of hay, but keeps scraping all the hay up so she can lie on the floor. She is in the back porch as it is too warm in the house for her. Hope she is better tomorrow.

Re: Gloria not well u/d Better now
Hope she is feeling better soon....I would monitor her water intake too, sometimes bunnies with a touch of stasis drop their fluid consumption which can lead to any ingesta drying out and being harder to pass. Some people prefer to make the recovery feed watery to help combat this.
Re: Gloria not well u/d Better now
Hi everyone.
She is much better today and seems to have totally recovered. I think maybe I over-reacted because when it happened to Holly she died.
I kept her inside overnight but only had a carrier which I was worried was too small. I managed to get the best part of a sachet of recovery down her and also got her to take some extra water.
Worried about her all night and didn't really sleep. This morning she was still with us - which was my nightmare - and seemed OK. She still didn't want food but I now think it was more a reaction to me than not really not wanting to eat because I have been getting them to eat their bloody Panacur all week and I wonder if she has had a sickner of being anywhere near me.
When I picked her up to feed her this morning, she pee'd all over my hand which was good because I knew she was getting fluids.
As it was relatively mild today, I put her back outside in the hutch and confined Wolfie to barracks too. She went straight to her bed and did some poos in the litter tray and she seemed active enough. They are now both in the run and she seems to be fine and I have seen her nibbling grass.
It was such a worry to have a sick bunny on my hands and I hope that is it for a while. My nerves can't stand it.
Don't know how you do it Sooz. So hope that Mack is better soon because it is horrible when they are unwell.

Pleased to hear that Gloria has perked up Nickie. It is understandable you reacted as you did after what happened to Holly and it is better to be safe than sorry.

Re: Gloria not well u/d Better now
That's great news, good for Gloria!
I know what you mean - I absolutely hate it if Rosie is ill - I get so stressed and can't concentrate on anything else. I don't know how people with lots of sick bunnies do it. I couldn't, I'm ashamed to say.

Re: Gloria not well u/d Better now
Sorry I missed this and I'm glad Gloria's better I don't really think you can overreact with these animals, they hide everything so well, I'd have done the same, and since Berts poisoning, I'm extra cautious too
