That is an great set-up!

I would make sure you have bolts or locks (people take bunnies too sadly) on all the external opening doors & windows and ensure the mesh on all parts is weldmesh, also attatching the mesh to the inside of a framwork stops bunnies from chewing on the woodwork.

Will the rabbits have access to the runs all the time, and are they either underlines with slabs or has mesh been put into or over the soil, it's just they may grow to be diggers and could possibly dig out (or a fox might dig in).

Thanks Very Happy

Ok, I will make sure they are safely locked in.
It is on grass so should I just attach weldmesh to the bottom of the runs? Would this not hurt their feet?

As for access to the runs all the time, I don't know what will be best, I was thinking they could have from about 8 in the morning until about 5 at night - does this sound reasonable? If I put double layers of mesh on the runs, would they be able to stay out all night or is that too much of a risk from foxes?

... Sorry for all the questions Laughing

Personally I would keep them locked in at night, it can be so easy to underestimate just how resourceful foxes can be at getting into accomodation. 8-5 is plenty of free time and the playhouse is hardly small even if they are confined to it over night. Smile

You could put mesh on the bottom of the run and then let the grass grow long over it, or put down wood chipping or similar substrate. Alternatively you could consider slabbing underneath, and again you could put wood chip over this if you so chose.

It might be that they are not going to be all that bothered about digging, some bunnies really aren't, but you never know until they start! Laughing

Thanks for the info Smile I am now considering slabbing, would rabbits be any healthier eating grass though?

The playhouse looks brilliant.

As far as grass goes, if the bunnies are on it every day you may well find that before too long there is no grass left at all Sad Some peoples grow grass in pots for bunnies, so you may want to consider that as an idea.

All ours have enclosed pens on slabs - but when we are around to supervise they go out in open topped runs on the grass. Touchwood, none of them are diggers!
