Monkey Photos (lots)
I haven't taken any photos of the monkeys in a while but Mr B was feeding them today and I thought he looked so funny all spread out that I got the camera out again. We recently had a sort of cage built onto the side of our house to put the cats' litter trays in (which means our house no longer stinks) but it means that the monkeys will get right up close if we're in it, and the cats can go and posture all they want without getting into fights they can't handle. Oh, and in case you were wondering, we were feeding them a very healthy diet of some stale cakes and some crisps! I didn't have any fruit left and they raid the bins anyway so I thought what the heck.
Anyway, here are some snaps:
He's quite mad you know...
Yummers! Cakes
They are always too nervous to actually eat out of our hands but they do get pretty close:
(Big Daddy)
The cats can't get enough of them:
Peanut
Basil. Spot the monkey:
Our friend brought her little boy up to see them. He had fun in the cage but then Mr B took him out onto the lawn. The alpha male ("Big Daddy") is actually almost Harry's size but Harry was dead brave and had a great time feeding them (...and eating some of the crisps too ). He has just turned 4 :luv:
Sorry about the blurriness and weird colour balance on some of them - I was taking them through tinted glass quite quickly so it's hard to get them perfect. That's why I'm better at photographing cats and landscapes - they stay still longer!
Oh and excuse the mess in the cat's little cage - we were in the middle of changing the trays etc when they monkeys turned up so it was all turned upside down out there!

Re: Monkey Photos (lots)
They come around on average once a week I suppose but we're not always in. If we feed them they stay longer and we can see them playing etc. Before we got our pondok done up it was just ripped mozzie netting and they used to come and play inside (and have 'happy time' ) and we'd watch them through the doors.
They are such characters and you get to know individual ones too

I would be sat out there all the time if they were in my garden, I'm sooo jealous ( in a nice way), amazing pics as ever Helen, nice to see Mr B again
Re: Monkey Photos (lots)
I always get bitten to shreds by the mozzies if I stay on the lawn too much (which in my 'current condition' apparently means they swell to the size of marbles so I'm not risking it) so I stayed in but they really are funny to watch.
People over here annoy me (Brits) as so many of them say "oh the monkeys are SO aggressive, I never go near them as they've attacked me before for no reason". It's complete rubbish. They are MUCH smaller than us, and, unless startled or cornered would NEVER attack. I found one in my kitchen ffs, accidentally had it penned in and all it did was lunge 2ft at me and bear its teeth. It could have given me some nasty bites but nothing! It just wanted out.
People throw stuff at the monkeys, run after them and shout. No wonder they retaliate! I've never heard of an actual 'attack' on a person but they do do that lunging thing and can be pretty scary when posturing. All we do if they're on the car or in our way is move slowly, stand up and wave our arms above our heads, effectively saying "I'm bigger than you, see?". They back off 4 or 5 feet, we do what we need to and no harm done.
It's this instant "oh they're horrible" thing that pees me off no end! We have spent literally hours (probably days actually) sat out with them, 2ft away, and nothing. Not so much as a scratch. They are far too frightened to come any closer
