Mini-bun in the garden - pics now added.
I have mentioned before that a Mrs Wildie had dug out a nursery burrow in our garden for the last two years but this year having found FIVE attempts at a burrow in the garden I decided she had given up and gone back to the moors.
However a week ago Louise saw two baby wildies in our rockery so the nest couldn't have been too far away after all.
For the last few days the teeny tiny baby of the pair has been visiting our back lawn for afternoon tea and then spends the rest of the afternoon holed up behind the plastic garden store ( for bunny toys ). This is within two feet of Gabe and Nia's run and next to the house. I did catch a glimpse of Gabriel lunging at the baby as it shot behind the store yesterday. I was concerned the first time it did this for it's health but now that it has happened several times it must just feel safe there for an afternoon nap
This seems such strange behaviour for a wildie and cute as s/he is, is really too close for comfort. I have been trying to get some piccies but baby is a speedy little thing

Here a few pics - a bit fuzzy but you can appreciate the size of mini-bun.
The first is of the two babies
And these are of mini-bun near the house

Mini-bun has been inches away from Gabe and Nia so I did wonder if it was looking for a friend I have seen it following an adult wildie too. I haven't seen it today tho, I hope it is OK as it is so so small.
We do have a spare hutch if needed.............................

The baby wildies are adorable.
Before we got our buns, we had some wildies living in our leylandii hedge (6 foot deep). They used it as a bunny motorway through all the gardens. They are gorgeous.

Another update - both mini-buns have been in the garden this tea-time. They snacked on my Japanese Maple, an ornamental grass and several bedding plants.
Good job they are so cute
