Constipation?
Hi all,
I just went to put Speckle (bun in my display pic) in the run and she has poop stuck in her rectum. I have tried soaking and bathing it but I wont budge. I'm worried about a build up of faeces behind it. In herself she seems fine, she is currently chilling in the run. I have a vet app at 3.15 today to get it looked at but I just wondered if anyone had any advice.
Thanks.

Re: Constipation?
Is it actually stuck inside her rectum, not to skin or fur on the outside...
It could be that she has ingested a foreign body or perhaps has an abnormal blockage she is trying to pass. I think I would personally wait until the vets have had a look at it rather than try to force it out just incase there is something stuck inside her.

Re: Constipation?
Its half out and half in. The bit thats out is stuck to the skin and all round the area feels hard.
I hadn't been forcing it, just tried to soften it with water with the hope she would be able to pass it.

Re: Constipation?
Hope everything has gone well at the vets, it might have dried out and become lodged possibly...I had a rescue bun who couldn't clean herself and she developed a backlog of dried poo across her genitals which we had to bathe away, she had a very sore private part for a few days.
Re: Constipation?
Just got back from vets. Vet wasn't sure exactly what the lump was as it didnt look like normal poo (either the round or soft kind). She managed to clean it and gave me some hibiscrub to clean Speckle with daily. Vet said as long as she is happy in herself and poos look normal and I keep her clean, she should be ok! Thanks Sooz and NickieM for you help and kind words.

Re: Constipation?
How peculiar!
Hopefully the hibiscrub will help, just a warning though that some buns have an adverse skin reaction to it, so watch out for any new swelling 'down there'. Let us know how she gets on.

Re: Constipation?
Ok I'll keep an eye out for swelling. She seems a bit fed up now bless her.
