Lexie & Ear Trouble Empty Lexie & Ear Trouble

As some of you are probably aware my old girl Lex has had multiple issue's stemming from a chronic Pasteurella infection which has left her on antibiotics for life. One of the problems she experienced was an ear infection which we believe led her to develop 'Bell's Palsy' where her face has a droop on one side (or is pulled tight on the other, depending on how you look at it). I've noticed today she has been shaking her head again occasionally and especially if I have been tickling her ears for her and also, she dosn't seem very receptive to sound.

I often put her jumpiness down to the fact she has only one eye but I'm now pondering if her ear has flared up again and whether she might be experiencing some deafness, possibly temporary. She has an engemycin injection every third day.Hmmm

Any thoughts scratch

Sometimes Buns with chronic ear problems get a big build-up of wax which not only irritates them but also makes them deaf.
If the eardrum is perforated then you cant use any ear cleaning preparations and really the wax is best removed by a Vet as you dont want to be pushing anything into the ear canal where the eardrum's not intact.

I've had a look with the 'scope but I can't actually see anything which says to me there is either nothing there and the headshaking has become habitual, or something is going on a lot deeper inside than I can see. Hmmm

She's always had 'visibly' clean ears.
