Lovely giant rabbit needs rescueing/getting out of bad place
Hi - whilst away on camp i went to local place to buy cider. there was a gorgeous giant continental rabbit - lovely temperament - in a tiny filthy hutch with no water or food or hay. it made me cry when i left. i got it some water when the man wasn't looking and tried the 'I'd love one of those' line to see if he said i could have it but he didn't. i then asked the lady who owns the place we stay at on camp to ask if he'd like to rehome it - she said he can be funny so asked one of his employees - the employee said that the bloke might be going to breed from it (!!) and maybe I'd like one of the babies (missing the point!!) but is going to ask more and get back to the lady who owns the property we rent but I am not holding my breath. Basically they had a very miserable eagle owl scratching on the floor in a cage, some racoons in a horrible cage, loads of dogs locked up and with puppies, an alsation puppy in a tiny cage with no food or bed - literally a cage and a bowl of dirty water. the racoons are just trapped in this dull cage and they have more in a nice enclosure but have 2 litters of babies apparently so what will happen to them?? chickens with chicks in small rabbit hutches and then this poor giant rabbit that someone had had in a pair, its mate had died and the bloke had been given it. i don't think he is cruel, just negligent and unable to give the time to look after them and cannot see it. the rabbit was the worst off of all the animals and deserves a nice home and care. I am now in the position that if he says no i can't have it and i then call the rspca it will be obvious who did it - anyone got any ideas? if anyone wants to speak to me please pm me and i can call you/give you my number. thank you.

How awful - given there are so many animals involved I would contact the RSPCA. I think all of the animals need help not just the poor bunny

well i wanted the guy to say i don't want it - you can take it and I'd bring it home and find a nice home for it through HH. i have a feeling i will get a no p1ss off you can't have it from him but it was in such awful conditions it needs to get out of there asap but i don't know what to do next as as i have made my position known so whatever happens they will know it has come from me. any thoughts snowy?

if it were me, I'd give it a month, then call the RSPCA and report them, All those poor animals.....
Re: Lovely giant rabbit needs rescueing/getting out of bad place
I think the RSPCA should be informed too - sounds like everything there is in a bad place.
Hope it goes well hon. Keep us posted.

This is so sad, I bet it is having a real effect on you too. I wouldn't be able to get it off my mind either. I think the RSPCA is the way forward you know.

Yes I agree - get someone else to phone them for you if you are worried about them discovering it was you x

Moon light flit, any way of just taking it with out them knowing thats what id do. other than that if he says no you cant have it tell him you will give him a week to start looking after it or the RSPCA will be knocking
