New anaesthetic protocol for buns Empty New anaesthetic protocol for buns

Post by Lynda Wed Jul 08, 2009 11:11 pm

Our vet is attending a (very expensive Shocked ) rabbit course and he's bouncing with new ideas! Laughing The latest is a new anaesthetic protocol which, when used, means the buns are awake after about a minute from reversal. One of our buns had an op yesterday and she was under for 45 minutes, she was operated on after 3.00pm and we had her back home, hopping about and eating by 6.00pm Shocked No wobbliness at all, she's doing brilliantly, I'm so impressed!

Anyone else's vet using this protocol? or am I behind the times again? Embarassed Rolling Eyes Laughing

not sure but when i used to take Foxy to the specialist I would wait in the waiting room while he anaesthetised her, burred her teeth and took x rays and 30 minutes later I'd have her back awake sitting in her carrier. This was mainly due to the fact that it was a 3 hour round trip to take her there so couldn't leave her all day.
