Fox in the garden last night.
My stomach was in my mouth.wasn't late just before ten.heard Connie thump followed by Briony(Connie doesn't thump so i knew something was going on)Only just got out of shower looked out of the window fox looking into the hutch you never saw bodies move so quick.the fox didn't scamper until the back door opened and Jess had started to yell at it.OH went out of gate (the one who says they only rabbits) and ended up chasing it away. This fox had determination.Ryan wanted buns in and got really upset.Briony was trembling Connie was laid on top of her.
So i had one late night.Getting their covers out of loft, moving run right up to hutch.blocking bottom off so nothing could get under.moving barbeque under corner of fence(trap so we would hear lid come off..(our fence is 6 foot but it joins neighbours which is around 4) the way it left.Just to put Ryann's mind at rest.Followed by me checking on Briony and trying to get her to eat her favourite treat which she did after 12.sorry about the ramble but we had urban Fox's in area for ages.I know it may sound silly but i re located a plant outside the gate it had outgrown a pot which the girls constantly rubbed their chins on,wounder if it was a wise move having the girls scent on.So how do you cope with fox's.The wire on hutch is strong.good bolts and locks.going to cover them again tonight with blanket and probably but run in front of hutch again,Any more ideas.

Crikey, that sounds like the closest shave, I'm glad they're ok Jan.
No advice to offer I'm afraid, I did ask about this a while ago and double wired runs came up as one solution.

Re: Fox in the garden last night.
I would definately make sure the covers are not just down at night but securely tied against the wind & scratching paws. Do you have padlocks as well as bolts....only foxes have been known to knock bolts open.
As Jay said a double wired run (so all wood is protected against chewing) is also a good idea as is having the run either on concrete or with a mesh base. Ideally the buns should have a box or tunnel in the run....somewhere they can hide & feel safe if needed (and if the run dosn't ajoin the hutch).

Goodness, how scarey.
Your OH may wish to go round where you think the fox is entering the garden and spray copious amonts of urine. I believe this is a good deterrant

Don't worry i'll get him to do it.
The hutch is padlocked all 3 door at night and last night we put the run right up in front totally blocking the hutch.we also blocked off the sides so it couldn't get under.Ryans offered to buy an inside cage for them but i can't get through to him that it wouldn't do them any good just coming in at night and going back out in the morning.

Re: Fox in the garden last night.
If a man can't pee in his own garden, what is the world coming too!
Hope you solve your fox problem. That must have been really scary.
