Oscar Empty Oscar

Post by Jay Tue Oct 27, 2009 5:21 pm

Oscar was beautiful Faun lop, he had a sweet nature, and was such a content little bun. He would come and sit down beside me in the garden he lived in, and eat dandeloins from my hand. I used to see him once a week when I visited my best mate who rents a room from Osacrs Landlord & who is also my friend. I'd collect bunny foliage from the park on the way there to treat him, and used to bound up to eat it!

Some of you may remember the tale of Oscar, who came into the care of one of my friends, who is my also best mates landlord, & was immediately seperated from his sister who went to live with another family member. After much persuasion from me, he was innoculted only after his sister died of Myxi 2 weeks later.
You may also remember me asking for help building a fox proof run. Despite pleadings from me and my best mate to let us build Oscar a proper and safe run, (we even offered to pay) we were told that it wasn't neccesary and not to interfere. The run he had was broken, not attatched to the hutch and very old.

Oscar was killed by a fox last night. I cannot put my feelings about this into words or on here, but suffice to say my friend has lost my respect completely.
I will miss visiting him, my best mate who had taken to doing his daily bum checks and getting him fresh veges etc is devastated.
Oscar was a victim to someone who couldn't see beyond their own ego and their need to be right about everything.
RIP little one, I'm so sorry I didn't try harder for you Sad

Jay I am so sorry to read this. I cannot believe that someone chose to ignore your advice and put their own stupidity first. This isn't ignorance, this is complete and utter lack of respect for another creatures safety. I am so sad to hear this Jay. Some people are just beyond me. Hugs.

I am so sorry Jay. At least you and your friend did everything possible to make Oscar's life happy and fulfilled. It is just a shame that the stupid who owned him couldn't have been more responsible.

Thank-you for your kind words, I feel so sad about him. I went out for a drink with best mate yesterday, he's so angry, as am I. He was already thinking about getting another rabbit to live with Oscar so that he could have a reason to build the hutch and run himself. It says a lot about him, and I'm not surprised, he's a beautiul person. I haven't been able to even send condolences yet Sad
