Is this weird??
Petal, my new rescue bun, has just eaten one of her normal poos. I'm very confused as she has ample other food available (she's a little underweight so I'm providing lots of extra veg and pellets) I've never seen a bun eat an ordinary poo before, I know they eat their cecal poos in the morning, but surely not their dry ones? Could this be something she picked up from her time being kept in a tiny hutch with 3 other bunnies and very little food? She may have survived by eating poo, is that possible?

Yes, I really think that could be the case, if she didn't have much food I suppose she ate whatever she could find

Aww bless her. My Dutch, Ratman, eats his normal poo's as well sometimes. He always has ample food available. Who knows...

It really does make me so sad to think about how bad it must have been for her and all the other buns found with her

Well I'm glad she's not alone in doing it, but I hope she grows out of it, it's not very ladylike!

I remember Felix doing it too when I first had him. Maybe it isn't such a strange thing. Maybe they just get curious as they do look a bit like pellets

Re: Is this weird??
Brynn has definitely indulged in a poo or two. Likewise, she had plenty of food available!

Re: Is this weird??
Gabriel does it too - he actually takes them from his bottom as if they were caecotrophs, eats a bit then throws the shredded remains to the floor in front of him. By the time he has done there can be 20+ shredded poops in front of him
Gabriel too came from a horrendous background so I have always wondered if his poo shredding is a legacy from that

Poor Gabriel Oh well, as long as all our poo munchers are happy now, I guess that's all that matters. To my eternal shame, apparently I partook in a bit of poo munching as a baby (only ONCE though!!) and it's not done me any harm

Sorry that was too funny!
I know I've seen Alfred eat a normal poo or too and as far as I know he didn't come from a horrible background. Maybe they just like the taste of poo...
