Playing in the snow
I live in an apartment so my buns don't get the pleasure of supervised outside time. I have a big balcony that is totally enclosed on the front and sides (so it's safe for bunnies to play on). They've only been out there one time (for bonding) as it's really not that exciting. Right now there is a bit of snow on it, and Hippo followed me out while I was putting some stuff out there (good place for storage ). It's a pretty mild day so I let him hop around. He was having so much fun so I called Brynn out of her cage to see what he was doing. Hippo loved the snow, and was binkying around . It took Brynn a few minuets to come out, but when she finally did she loved it too. I had to offer them fresh basil to get them back in, and for the past 10 minuets they've been going back to the door trying to figure out how to get out!
Princess Brynn had to get herself a thorough cleaning when she came back in.... so filthy

That is so sweet. My buns just loved the snow. Poor Gloria had snow balls attached to her bum hair.

It really is!
This morning (6:30 am here) when I let them out of the cage they both darted over to the door like "please please let us out!!" I couldn't resist... they LOVE it! They are a little bit angry with me for making them come back in. Again, I only let them out there for 2 minuets. Now that they are back inside they are so hyper... running around, jumping on everything, binkying
As indoor bunnies do you think it's okay for them to have some time out there on mild days? (Like, 10 minuets?) They always have the option to come back inside on their own.
I'm suddenly dreaming of a huge, fort knox back yard where the rabbits are given some supervised outdoor time each day to tear around like superman and wonder woman:dance:

Re: Playing in the snow
Ahhh thats sooo lovely!! Bless them . . . . .at least all the time hippo is trying to get out the back door, he's not terrorising Tori! ha ha
daisy is a house bun and was allowed out during the summer - whenever we were there to supervise and he would come to the door and think about ie - sometimes hed come out and sometimes he wouldnt. I offered him the chance to go out into the snow and he declined.......Im wondering if its cos next doors cats sometimes come and look at him through our windows licking their lips (cos he is soooo iccle).
I would love to see him enjoying himself in the snow!

Re: Playing in the snow
Scout has jumped out of her hutch every morning since it snowed and done a full circle whilst i fill their bowl up and then jumps back inside to eat....I thought she was planmning an escape at first but she really does just seem to want to run through the snow.

Re: Playing in the snow
After my two escaping on Monday, they have both been locked up until Saturday. They just absolutely HATE being inside all the time and I do feel really guilty.
Sooz, mine do the jump out run around the hutch and dart back in for breakfast. Gives me time to sprinkle their pellets in the hay. After breakfast they go out and they don't really go back into the hutch until bedtime (apart from going in to eat their fresh bedding). They spend most of their time in the 'sitting box' (a nibbled canvas carrier on a garden chair) or go and sit in their A frame. Doesn't matter what the weather is like, they are out.

Re: Playing in the snow
I truly am hated! Especially as Felix who is in a separate run is allowed out during the day because his run is smaller and has a roof.
Tomorrow I am going to clear all the snow (which is really packed ice) out of their run and try and sort the fences. I do feel really guilty and hate seeing their wee faces looking at me pleadingly.
