Loki has bloat. U.D with pictures
I have a poorly little Loki bunny here, although I am not sure he knows he is poorly himself judging by the way he is bouncing about and climbing on me, the sofa and the laptop. He was off his food yesterday morning and when I got home from work at 2pm yesterday he was looking swollen so he came inside with me.
He has had pain-relief, Infacol, Water & Probiotic syringe feeds and also eaten voluntarily and we are getting moist round poops in a not unconsiderable quantity but they are a mix of normal and exceedingly small. He has eaten 2.5 bowls of A&P diluted with warm water and organic apple & strawberry puree with probiotic added, and also stolen some cereal, but he is still gassy today, though not the football with a head and four limbs he was yesterday. In himself he is fine, washing, running, snuggling and investigating things.....all a bit at odds with his appearence to be honest.
Anyway I am not excessively worried about him at this stage but would like to get him back outside before he unacclimatises to the cold weather. It's just very odd but he is a young rabbit and something must have upset his gut balance.

Poor Loki....... bloat always sounds like it should be really painful. Poor old Loki
Re: Loki has bloat. U.D with pictures
Poor little guy. Hope he feels back to normal soon.
Good thing he has such a bunny expert to realize he is sick before even he does!!
I wish I had your knowledge and awareness Sooz.

There's a rabbit first aid kit list in the Reference section whcih has a list of some good things to keep instock, I'm never without Infacol as it has been quite invaluable in the past with some of my rabbits.
Loki is still a bit round but is currently sat next to me eating a handful of really nice hay and picking at some mushed pellets again. I know how uncomfortable I feel when a bit bloated so cannot imagine how awful it must be for a tiny little bunny.

Like Katie I will get together some First Aid items for my bunnies, although I have collected some stuff over the years which has often proved useful.
Where can I get Infacol from? And the probiotic - what form does that come in?
I hope Loki is feeling better, poor little man. He is very lucky he has such a bunny savvy owner to nurse him.
Big bunny kisses to him from Gorgeous George, Dylan, Molly and Munchkin

Infacol can be brought from any chemist or usually supermarket, I get mine in our local Tesco. I give 2ml to start then 1ml every hour as required, followed by a syringe feed of water (aiming for 5-10ml per feed).
Probiotic comes as a powder which can be diluted in water or sprinkled onto food.
Angie I have some great pictures of him from today and will try to get them up over the weekend.

Thanks Sooz. It is as well to be prepared. I always have some critical care in and that has proved invaluable until I can get a bun to the vet. I have collected a tin of useful 'stuff' for cats and bunnies over the years and have often been pleased to have it. I'll add the infacol and probiotic - and then hopefully all my fur children will stay well

Loki hs gone back outside today and I have ceased medication. He is eating, drinking and pooping of his own accord. I will keep a very close eye on him but hopefully he is now well and truly on the mend.

You can buy probiotic online or from P@H. The vets also sell it usually. The most common ones are Avi-Pro, Pro C or Bio Lapis.

Lol Sorry, let me eat lunch and I will get on it. Still undecided about what to do with him regarding company, I just have this gut feeling he is pining, he is way to happy to see me for a rabbit who has been force fed recently.
