Swollen eye lid? Empty Swollen eye lid?

Post by Vivi Tue Feb 16, 2010 1:02 am

I only noticed Freya has a swollen eye lid, looks rather like a blood blister, at about 10pm tonight which is late for the vets so Im hoping to get up early tomorrow and get her an appointment then..

I realise I probaby won't get a reply tonight because it's 1am!

But does anyone know what this may be?
It has me rather worried!

Thanks
Sarah

Is there a 24/hr or emergency vet that you could even phone for advice?

The only thing I can think of is to rinse the eye with warm water on a clean soft cloth.

Sorry I can't be of more help. I hope you can get to the vet in the morning.

Vibes for you and Freya!

Are there any scratches or cuts on the eyelid, or does it look like there may be a lump like a spot or cyst....

Is she up to date with her Myxomatosis vaccinations....

I am getting an appintment at 6pm as that was the earliest - Vet said if she got any worse they'd try to fit her in but its the same as last night.

It doesn't seem to be bothering her too much really it just looks scary!

I suspect she may have cut herself scratching, but Id rather gte it checked out.

Ill let you know what the vet says!

The vet has said its just a really nasty bruise, I have some anti-inflammatory eye drops which will be lots of fun to put in her eyes, and I have to go back in four days.

So, not bad news :-)

Her eye is looking nearly back to normal this morning! It was great to see her this morning looking back to her normal self.

Getting her eye drops in was a very fun task and I think that was only possible because I had the boyfriend helping.
