Re: 7 month old, friendly syrian girlie needs a home surrey
God she's adorable! I'm looking for a girlfriend for my male Syrian (I know they can't live together), my hamster is 5 years old, and I want him to have babies so that I can keep them when he leaves me.
I can't find any rescue hamster here in Spain, and I don't want to buy one from a pet store.
Why do I live so far away!
I would adopt Honey if I could!

We do not condone breeding at all. You would have no idea of the history of the hamsters and also syrian hamsters cannot live together. Would you be able to find homes for the whole litter? That would mean lots if separate cages if you cant! Also, if people turn around and say they cant keep the baby anymore, would you take it back? Again, lots of cages.
Most GOOD rescues will state that the animal cannot be bred from. This is in our contract. I would strongly advise against doing this for the health of the hamsters, you could be passing on dangerous genes for no real reason.

I would only breed once, I know that syrian hamsters can't live together.
I have had syrians for.... forever, I know how to take care of them pretty well.
my objective was to breed once only, keep both parents and one (or probably two) of the babies. Of course I wouldn't if I didn't know what to do with the other babies, however I know alot of good places for them to go in my entourage, especialy a place where I work alot as a volontary, which involves therapy with animals (mainly horses, but other animals too) for disabled children (or they could be a class pet, my mom is a teacher and is considering having pets in her classroom).
But I think you are right about passsing on bad/dangerous genes, I hadn't thought of that.
Anyways, I hope Honey will find a great home, I'm sorry if i seemed like an irresponable owner in my first post! (bad english)

Rescues are full to the brim of unwanted animals. Its not only a shame when people add to the already overpopulated situation, but very irresponsible.

Honey's home has fallen through again through no fault of her own. She is still looking for her forever home.
