Some of my less furry creatures.
Thought i'd introduce some of my less furry creatures to you all. I can expect many eeeeeugh and aaaaah's but this is a big hobby of mine and also my job.
This little lad a blizzard leopard gecko is my first baby of this season and is 6 days old.
This is a rosy boa. These are small snakes and feel like rubber.
A baby crested gecko.
Pacman frog
Large hognose snake.
Chile rose and fire leg tarantulas
A newt
My biggest snake is only 5ft and still growing but most are small species.
The reason I want to post this is to draw attention to a stereotype, I dont know if any of you guys keep reptiles but when we decided to buy rabbits breeders refused to sell to use as soon as they heard we kept reptiles. They automatically thought we were going to use them as food. Now as you can tell I adore my rabbits but also my reptiles and keeping the two doesnt mean I view one or treat one any less. I was surprised at the reaction, some even being rude and hanging up the phone. I dont think any of you will feel like this but thought it was worth bringing up. Got hundreds more pics if you want to see them. Different species and colours.

GORGEOUS animals hon. I am especially jealous of the horned frog and the fire-leg!!!! I had a chile rose myself (aren't they gorgeous!) and would love to get me a boa or at least a corn snake when we get back
Does your froggy ever go green? I have seen them in shops (was soooo tempted!) and they've faded from yellow/orange to green...
More pics always welcome
Re: Some of my less furry creatures.
Your animals are lovely but oh my gosh, you might want to put a warning on the title for those with arachnaphobia! (ie, me!!) I scrolled very quickly past those ones!
It's a shame that if you automatically keep reptiles then people assume you are going to feed your rabbits to them. I suppose a lot of that does go on, hence the reaction. It's not right to make assumptions though.

to be technical its an emperor crocodile newt/mandarin newt ive alway thought it was he and was told last week its a she!!
I have a few more tarantulas and I think 17 snakes in total, 10 lizards and some amphibians. My only BCI (boa) is a hypo female who has grown a foot and a half since december! shes touching 5 now and is 2 yrs old so still growing a lot.
The ones i have arnt the green type, the horned is a fantasy a cross between the ornate and cranwells horned frog. I will get more pics out in a mo.

Re: Some of my less furry creatures.
They are fabulous photographs. It is a genre that I have never had anything to do with, but I think they are really nice to look at. The spiders do present a challenge and your first reaction is to draw back (even me who isn't scared of spiders at all). I think it is because they look so unlike other spiders being so fluffy. I think they move in such a funny sinister way too, very slowly and deliberately as if they are stalking everything!
I can understand people questionning you but it is a shame when people are rude as there is no reason to do that. If you did want to take on bunnies to feed to your reptiles, you're hardly likely to say that you had them in the first place if that is the reaction you get.

Re: Some of my less furry creatures.
Nice to hear theres other reptile folks here too. Ive been into them since my mum had them when i was a tot but never kept them myslef till the last few years and now succesfully breed a few things. I also work with them so definately a big hobby.
I can see their point but do they really think i would pay £25-£30 for a lion lop or mini lop rabbit and ask for its parentage and personality and colour to use it as food. Doesnt matter now as I have them and love them to bits.

Re: Some of my less furry creatures.
Wow those are some stunning snakes!
I managed to get some great 'fang' shots of my spideys when I had them... I am rather frightened of spiders but I found keeping them actually helped. Still, if there's one of those big brown house spiders about I'll run screaming. The problem is, over there they have a habit of running after you
Lovely pics hon.

Sorry - Only just noticed this!
I love froggies! The only thing that puts me off is feeding them bugs, I don't like bugs! Spiders I can deal with.. Its the er, buggy type bugs that I have a problem with!

Re: Some of my less furry creatures.
Aaaw gorgeous animals! I have never owned many reptiles/spiders/frogs... I had a leopard gecko once when I was a kid, well it originaly belonged to a friend but I ended up keeping it because his mom said she couldn't stand feeding it live crickets!
I have a veeryyy old and fat Ryukin fish, once she passes away I might get another gecko, or maybe a turtle... But I don't know if my tank is big enought.

Re: Some of my less furry creatures.
what size is your tank?
minimum size for a single leo is 24 inch by 12 inch

Re: Some of my less furry creatures.
Oh! Well my tank is 27 inches long and 16 inches large (acording to an an online converter), so I guess it would do.
Re: Some of my less furry creatures.
It would be absolutely fine. Wouldnt suit a turtle long though. If your ever looking for one let me know. Im a breeder and know a few good reptile couriers.
