R.I.P Cookie

Cookie died a few minuts ago.
I went to his cage to give him a piece of egg and noticed he was sleeping very deeply, since when I called him and touched him he didn't move. He was breathing vey slowly, somehow I knew this was the end.
So I just sat next to his cage and watched him pass away in his sleep.
Just yesterday, I went to the pet shop to buy him new bedding, new food and a new chew toy... Just yesterday, the TV announced that the the period of rain had ended and that we would have sun for a while. I was looking forward to spending some time outside with Cookie, but no one can predict when ones life will end.
I'm extremly sad and upset, but relieved too, because in his last days he had so much trouble doing anything because of his tumor, sometimes I wondered if it wouldn't be better for him to die and rest forever.
He has been, by far, the best hamster I have had since Coco (my very first hamster when I was a little girl), and it's thanks to Cookie that I started to make videos and to take photos.
Each time I loose a pet I can't help but be amazed by how much I learned from him/her, and how much that pet made me feel happy.
I can already feel that the house is more empty since Cookie's spirit left.
I'll miss him, so much, and of course, I'll never forget him.

Aww, such sad and touching words. You're right, we learn and gain so much from them and they enhance our lives as much as we do theirs.
