What is an agouti rabbit and why is it called that please?

This is an Agouti (the rabbit, not the kitty!)



It is very similar to the colour of wild buns, though I do not know where the name originated from, maybe someone else will

It's basically just a name for the wild colouring that you see in rabbits, it's often simply called brown but the hairshaft actually contains several differing bands of colour and some light 'ticking' through the coat. No idea why Agouti was chosen though!

it's the same in other animals - agouti is the term used for this brown colouring (as Sooz described) although it doesn't seem complete unless you tack the work "beauty" on the end :luv:
