More abused bunnies....
This is Todd. He is 9 years old now and came in when the owner was moving and Todd couldn't go with them. They have had him since he was a baby and from the looks of it, left in a hutch...
This is a lump of poo ingrained in the fur on his face! His eyes are runny but because of his age he cannot have a dental or be neutered.
Here are his talons. This tells me he has been confined to a hutch for a long time.
:@
He is a nice boy though, poor lad. All the previous owner wanted to talk about was the fact she was going to a wedding tomorrow and she hopes it doesn't rain...
This is Star who is almost 6 years old. We will get her speyed asap however she isn't in a much better state. Her bum is compacted in poo and I can't even see her anus! I shall soak it throughout the day.
Star's nails were in a bad way too.
They had "rescued" Star when she was 2 years old.... I will make sure her next home is the home she should have always had!
Star will be looking for a home with a neutered buck

bless them, such sad stories I;'m glad they're with you Anna, give them a cuddle from us
Re: More abused bunnies....
How can people be so stupid and unfeeling and just outright neglectful???
They are both very very beautiful.
I really hope they find wonderful forever homes where they can live like they were always meant to.
Give them nose rubs for me.

Thanks all. Star's bum is very sore and swollen. Will take Todd to our vets and see what he says. Am praying to the bunny gods he wont need a dental because of his age and weight its so risky

Re: More abused bunnies....
My vet is brilliant with very old bunnies that need dentals, I doubt she would castrate though at that age, what will you do if he does ned a dental? did these two live together?

We will follow the advice of our vet and if they think he is well enough for a GA.
No these two were separate as they are both entire.

Please don't let him be PTS'd, he deserves a chance of happiness and love

We wont. We are a pro-life rescue so he wont be PTS unless he is suffering and nothing can be done to help. Our vet is very good with rabbits and at the moment Todd is very happy and eating well

Re: More abused bunnies....
Awww poor wee guy.
I found a stray rabbit 18 months ago and because he had a runny eye and looked a bit on the old side, decided to keep him because I wasn't sure the SSPCA would rehome him and didn't want to think of him being PTS.
It has taken a long time with good food, exercise and some love, but he has started to look so much better. He has filled out and his fur has changed from a scraggy texture to a smooth, silky coat. He still has his runny eye and I will have to trim his peg tooth that keeps growing, but apart from that he is absolutely fine. He won't eat hay - probably never had it before - and doesn't eat much grass. But he is happy and healthy and looking great.
Hopefully Todd and Star will get a chance to be happy like Felix.
Hope it rained at her wedding and when the photos come back she has VPL in every one!

These poor little bunnies. They're lucky to have found you and that they're safe now.
Star seems like a bit of a poser... hopefully she can find another forever home soon

Thats lovely to hear, so pleased to hear Felix is doing well
Our vets are the best though, they charge at least double but we would rather pay more and be with people we trust. So don't worry, they are in safe hands. Our cancer buns have cost us fair amount of money and should Todd need expensive treatment then we will pay it. Just because he is old doesn't mean we wont pay

Re: More abused bunnies....
The vet could not reach her ovary because it was so surrounded with fat that when he tried to remove it, it kept ripping. So he tied off the blood supply so it should wither and die away and be dissolved in the body. However, there is a chance that she could come into season again and may have female bunny hormonal problems. Her womb is gone so she cannot breed and because we don't home entire male rabbits with spayed females it will not be an issue, but it is not uncommon in does that have been allowed to get very overweight.
Luckily though I have had someone asking for an older female to pair with their lone male. Could Star be his new girlfriend when shes better?

Re: More abused bunnies....
Todd saw the rabbit specialist today. He had two large spurs on his left side and smaller ones on the right side. They flushed his tear ducts and castrated him too. I will get more info when I collect him, but hopefully he will feel better now his teeth are sorted

Star had complications with her spey and had to spend 2 days at the vets. Because of this we are keeping her here until she is 100% better. Todd is fine and is now looking for a home
