Hay on grass???

Excuse my stupidity here, but I wouldn't ask if I wasn't being serious 
When I put the buns on grass, do I need to give them hay aswell or is grass ok?
Also, is it ok to put them on the grass if it's wet and a bit muddy? They have a house that they can retreat to which is off the ground and sheltered, I just thought they might like a change of scenery and some grass to munch on. Thanks.

Mine are outside in rain, shine, snow and sun. As long as they can shelter from the worst of the weather they are fine.
