Poor old man in the sense that its so annoying to be snuffly & have weepy eyes. But lucky old man that he has a great Mum tending to his every need! Hope he goes on alright at the vets - we need some photos of him, its been a while! X

Well as we thought nothing that can be done about the eyes. Other than finding a bun who will actually clean them. When it warms up I may have to attempt a Sandy/Lily bond with him to see if they will do it seeing as Bella and Ratty can't be bothered. She has told me to continue with the bathing and vaseline. Most of the fur round his eyes, almost to his nose has fallen out now so he has gone from stunning to odd looking Sad

He has some Baytril for his mild snuffles. They aren't overly worried at this stage. His teeth were checked and all in all he bahnaved disgracefully and would not co operate at all so there can't be that much wrong. He also kept making dives for inside my coat!

Gonna see if I can find another foster lady who might clean his eyes in the interim. The thing is I really don't want to take on another bun when I have 6 already. I just need to find one of mine that will actually clean his eyes. Bella, Ratty and Easter are all a no, so it remains to be seen if Lily and Sandy will do it, but then I have the issue of him only being able to live out in the summer as he gets too chesty in the winter.

Alio - we think he is around 11 - 12 now.

Glad that he is generally in good health and behaving disgracefully. Laughing Laughing

What meanies Ratty and Bella are! Hope Lily and Sandy can take over because it does make a difference. I remember you telling me that.

Ratty and Bella have told me in no uncertain terms this evening that they see no reason why they should earn there keep. Ratty has done this by moulting all over my tights and showing me what a fat so and so he is getting and Bella showed me by eating my new boots while I tried to get her tea ready!

Poor old man Sad Yup another buns saliva appears to be the only thing that really works. There are no other eye drops we can try him on and nothing we can really do other than carry on as we are until a bun takes over.

Btw Nickie - LOVE your sig, another SJ special? Love

Have you tried chloramphenicol drops? These worked well on Fiver last year when his got really bad.

I've noticed he also isn't kept as clean now Marley has passed away though, I think a combination of the natural antiseptic in saliva as well as the cleaning away of the salty tears is why it is so effective to have a dedicated grooming partner.

I think at his age you have to expect him to have some on going health issues and in the grand scheme of things snuffles & conjunctivitis are not that horrendous....he's doing pretty well!

We have used Fucilthalmic, Maxitrol and 1 other that I can't think of the name of but it was something like Helleprose .... ARGH! What name are chloramphenicol drops known by?

Yeah you are right at his age we should be happy, he goes through great phases and then not so great phases. He is getting better about his vaseline, but not his eye baths! He is such a cantankerous old goat I love it! I am so grateful he came to your rescue Sooz and then to me! I still remember the drive home after picking him up. We stoped at Macdonalds and he was sat on Alex's knee. We parked near all these boy racers and Chance was having a nosey out the window. We must have looked so uncool!!!!

I'm pretty sure you can get unbranded Chloramphenicol for animal treatment.

I remember you saying about parking at Maccy D's with him. I thought it sounded awesome myself! Laughing

Chance meant my ride looked totally pimped trust me Wink Can you believe that was 3 years ago next month Shocked

He has had a total fit tonight when he got his Baytril and eye bath + vaseline. He shook his pension book at me and told me that he wanted to ring the RSPCA. I told him that as I am the RSPCA his chances were slim. He has now thrown himself down for a nap in disgust. Man I love him Love

Delivered! He says thanks very much but he is thoroughly disgusted with the treatment he has had to ensure today and nothing other than his slippers and a copy of The People's Friend will appease him Laughing
