My bunnies have to go outside :(
Hey lovelies,
Super sad times for me, my bunnies have to go live outside as our landlord has changed his mind (grrr)
My mother is coming down to help us sort it out, i'm going to get:
A snuggle safe for each hutch,
Some hutch covers to help insulate them,
Some wood to cover the bottom of the door as there is a hole :/
Anyone else think of other things I might need, I don't care how much money it costs, I need them to be happy and safe out there...
xx

Re: My bunnies have to go outside :(
That's a shame Lexy Do they have to go immediately? if so, they'll need lots of newspaper and hay insulation, as their coats may not be ready for outsied yet.
Hope they're ok

Re: My bunnies have to go outside :(
I know i'm so upset. I don't know when the landlord is going to do a @surprise! inspection, so it's all got to be sorted by sat. I'm hoping they're going to be okay, maybe two snugglesafes? I'm also keeping my eye out for a oil powered heater or something xx

would those be any goods to put kinda over the them? xx

Re: My bunnies have to go outside :(
What a pain landlords are. I recently moved Rosie outside and what I did was put a cardboard box in the sleeping area and then padded the area on the outside of the box with straw and put plenty of newspaper inside the box and stacks of hay to snuggle into. I also put a thick woollen blanket over the top and back of the hutch with a huge peice of taupaulin folded over to create two layers of waterproofing. I gave her a few extra pellets as well and she has been fine, no ill effect.
Before I did this however, I put her ou=tside in a run for a few hours each day, increasing the time each day for about a week before I put her in the hutch over night.
Good luck with it. I got my taup from ebay and the blanket from a charity shop so this kept costs down.

Re: My bunnies have to go outside :(
Oh no!
Goodness. Do you have enough hutches for them all until they can be bonded?
I would suggest what Vince has said - sounds very snuggly. Also putting them out into a run for a few hours a day to get them used to the cold is a great idea.

Re: My bunnies have to go outside :(
Vince: That sounds really snuggly, I would mind sleeping in it, I'll put them outside in a raun -that I don't have yet - lol! They wont be, outside outside, they'll be in the garage so it's sheltered from the wind/rain. Luckily it's supposed to be getting warmer. I've got two large hutches and one smaller one... isobelle and jack are prettty big and poppy's kinda small... though i'm giving her back to my friend or rehoming her. It's just too much, yeah I know told you so.

Ahh that is such a shame...and no not I told you so, we all have to learn from our mistakes and at least you now know what you can and can't handle . Atleast you did it out of the kindness of your heart!
A garage doesn't seem so bad & if you do it gradually they will be fine ....Plus no more hay in the house ...I hate hoovering that stuff up!

Re: My bunnies have to go outside :(
I'd keep them here, in the house hapily. But if we get evicted we couldn't care for any of them. It's hard but it needs to be done xxx

Re: My bunnies have to go outside :(
Yeah I know, it's not a bad way of looking after them though - just a different way! It is a shame though as it is lovely having buns in the house, but you are doing the right thing that's what counts and they will still be well looked after

Re: My bunnies have to go outside :(
Yeah, plus they'll have more space.... I plan to build them each a little run with a top on, so they can have their hutch plus a run for the day time

If you have a garage, that's much better, mine live on the patio with a plastic gazebo over it.

Oh, sorry Elaine I didn't realise lol! I did think that a garage would be better as they would have atleast protection from the evil wind xx

Re: My bunnies have to go outside :(
and protection from foxes etc... Could you not get hold of metal play pen/puppy pen and use it to divide the garage in two halves, then you could leave the hutches open and they could have free access to their side of the garage? I bought a play pen for £20 and it's proven to be invaluable, it'd be cheaper than making/buying a run. I don't know if your two are jumpers or not, 3 of mine probably wouldn't try and jump out but Rosie and Vince would lol!

That'd be fine, but Jack and poppy aren't going to be bonded, and isobelle isn't spayed just yet xx

Re: My bunnies have to go outside :(
Is Poppy not going back to your friend? The pen could seperate Jack and Isobelle, or you could get two pens and attach them to the hutches? It might work out cheaper than buying ready made wood and mesh runs?
It's difficult trying to sort out accomodation isn't it I've just ordered some runaround tunnels so one of my groups can get onto the lawn from their run to the trixie run on the grass. Might have to remove a fence panel that runs around the patio though, there's always something in the way of my creative bunny housing ideas!!

Re: My bunnies have to go outside :(
I got them from runaround.co.uk, they aren't cheap though, luckily I was able to buy connector plates to fit the doors on my runs instead of buying the flower door thingies which are quite pricey.

Re: My bunnies have to go outside :(
Poppy would be, if my friend would reply. I'm such an idiot, I never should have taken here. Well... if she hasn't replied by march, I'm afraid I'll have to rehome her
I've got one run, and I could maybe build another, I have some wood that was supposed to be a underbed shevling unit, but it all comes apart

Wish i didnt have anymore in the house since they were moved to the outhouse!! Sadly, we have a constant trail of unhooverable stuff from the back door to the front!
lexybee91, i am sure you are doing all you can for them - and at least the weather has eased up and we are not having frost! It's soon going to warm up and at least they are not totally outside.
And more space - they'll think they are in heaven!! xxx

Your posts always make me feel better
I think we'll probably have the same constant trail, I'll have to split my time between my craft room and the animal out house lol! Atleast we're not having frost, this is a good idea.
That's true, more space.
I let Jack and Isobelle go outside for a little while today, they loved it. They weren't out at the same time before anyone panics But they both binkied lots it was sooo cute *lush* xx
