Re: Ruffin not well
She could try a bunny sausage roll, using a towel.
What meds is she on? Some of them are quite tasty and they will take from the syringe.

Re: Ruffin not well
[b]Not sure exactly as I am working away all I know is she has been given anti biotics and pain killers also a dilute food supliment my daughter Jo helped ann today so at least she has had her meds its just trying to get some fluids into her. Ann says now as soon as she goes near ruffs she runs off and hides again with the trauma its not suprising. The little monster will also be greiving because the dijestive biscuits have been baned. Also the vet says we have to try and get her to exersise more so if anybody knows of a bunn gym I will buy her a sweat band and enrole her

Re: Ruffin not well
if she has metacam / meloxidyl / loxicom, these are all the same pain med and they are very tasty, she may just lick it from the syringe off of something tasty.
Good luck x x x

Re: Ruffin not well
I would advise using a towel so that all feet are contained. Then introduce the syringe slightly behind the front incisors and squirt a little bit. Check that the rabbit is swallowing. You might see their tongue licking. Don't put all the syringeful in straight away as they might choke and the meds will run down their chin and be lost.
Hope she is feeling better soon and able to have a little bit of biccy soon.

Re: Ruffin not well
[b]Hi she is still only eating a small amount but being her usual fussy self and only eating the cabbage and throwing the spinich out of the bowl. The pain killer she is on is Metacam I think Ann may be a bit warrey of Ruffs when I took her to Sooz to intruduce her to Ruffs I picked her up gave her a stroke all fine then Ann picked her up and got a bite on the arm the bruise took a week to go down so she can be a bit timid of her. My daughter Jo is helping her she has a bunn Timmy who has had to have meds syringed. I cant wait to get back tomorrow as I havent seen her since I left her at the vets Ruffs not Ann. Will let you know what the vet has to say tomorrow after her visit

Re: Ruffin not well
Sending vibes for her and also for Ann. Sounds like ruffin is deffo in charge there!
She could try just popping the metacam on something....its quite tasty and most buns like it.
I used to dot it on some fresh herbs - that always worked a treat. x x

Re: Ruffin not well
She looks like Gloria and it would appear acts like Gloria too! She was a bloody awful patient too and I had a couple of amazing scratches down my face from those powerful back feet. I feel Ann's pain!

Re: Ruffin not well
[b]Ruffs has been back to the vets she hasn't lost any more weight but her piddle is still a bit gritty. She still isn't eating or drinking as she should in fact the vet told her to start eating or she will end up very poorly. I have seen her tonight for the first time since I left her at the vets she realy dosn't look right allmost as if she has given up it's realy sad . If anyone can tell me a way to help her get her appitite back it would be much apreciated. Also can the pain killers make them feel off. The other 3 are dooing fine by the way and have totaly trashed the new run with burrows everywhere

Re: Ruffin not well
The pain killer should be helping. I am so sad to read that she is a poorly bun Lots of healing vibes Ruff's way. Please let us know how she is tomorrow x
Re: Ruffin not well
i think she should be fine with the pain killer. Daisy has been on it for a very long time and has always been fine
Have you thought about syringe feeding her a couple of times a day just to
get the food and water into her ?
I found that this just gave Daisy a bit of a bump start and almost woke his tummy up. within a few mins of syringing he would nibble away by himself.
I use the Oxbow critical care which is available online from www.thehayexperts.co.uk and I think some vets sell it too.

Re: Ruffin not well
[b]Ruffs is still not rite by a long way but at least today she has managed to eat just a few small bits of cabbage. She still isn't as far as we can tell drinking mutch if anything and she needs the fluids to get the sludge out of her bladder. I held her all wraped in a towel earlyer whilst Ann gave her the meds and some fluids she looked so sweet but helpless, it realy did make me think we are putting her through so mutch stress. It was on anouther topic somone had said that there bun gets very stressed in the car Ruffs does very baddly when we brought her back from holiday hutches after a holiday a couple of years ago she was petrified not from the boarding who I dont think could have done more to make her happy during her stay but from the car trip. She has now had this week 2 car trips to and back from the vets been left at the vets in a strange place overnite being force fed water and having an extremly tender tum pressed to empty her bladder she is now being caught wraped in a towel and again forced to drink. I looked at her earlyer and thought this is what WE want for you what do you realy want. It may all sound dramatic but what would they want? Sorry to ramble on hopefully I will be able to give better news tomorrow

Re: Ruffin not well
I'm glad Ruffin managed to eat some cabbage as it's a start and better than nothing. Have you tried a little pineapple juice in her water sometimes the sweetness encourages them to drink more.
I'm so sorry you are having such a tough time at the moment, sending Ruffin mega healing Vibes and hoping tomorrow there is better news
