Dogs & Bunns Empty Dogs & Bunns

Post by Ruffin Mon Jul 25, 2011 8:09 pm

[b]Last few days I have noticed The Bunns and mainly Jazz havn't been coming out into there run as much I am working away again but Ann sent me a message to say the cottage just down the lane from us has a new tenant and they have a dog. Its quite old and suposed to be very friendly. Would this worry the bunns into hiding in there shed the dogs not been round as far as I know but evedently you can here it barking and I supose the bunns will be able to smell it Hmmm

Yea the buns will be able to smell the dog I would have thought. I think its something they will get used to though - when they realise that they are not going to come to any harm hopefully they will start to venture out again.

When we lived in our old flat, thumper used to freeze and stare at the dog next door when it came out. When the dog first arrived he used to poke his nose through the fence, clearly smelling her but his interest soon went away. He had no interest in her at all.

But she was always wary of him.

They got another dog not long before we moved and there's no way I would have trusted that one so I didn't let her out when he was around.

Agree, they will have heard and scented the dog and thier instincts will have kicked in. They will settle in time and perhaps a friendly, tactful word with the dog's owners might not go amiss, just in case it might wander. You know, make them aware that you have bund and when they are walking it not to let it off the lead near your property. Make sure you agree that
their dog may be the sweetest friendliest animal on the planet and you know it wouldn't hurt a hair on your rabbits scuts but point out that THE RABBITS DON'T KNOW THAT and a close encounter could be very shocking for them.
Keep it friendly, you don't want bad relations and you never know when you might need a good neighbour.
