Rabbits should be vaccinated for myxomatosis (sorry if spelling is incorrect, it's been a long day and brain is not functioning Sad ) and VHD, both are life threatening diseases to rabbits.

Thumper is vaccinated for each once a year but depending on where you are, and where they are kept, they may need to be done more often. I'm pretty sure that some peoples buns get the myxo one more often.

Thumper is a house bun but I still get her done just to be on the safe side. For example, you never know if they will encounter an infected bun at the vets when you are there for any reason.

Haha, they do get expensive, but worth every penny.

I'd give away all my savings and more if i could wave a magic wand and make thumper young again!

Myxi is every six months, vhd is once a year Smile

well worth having done as without vaccination if your bun got either of these they would, to be blunt, die.

Vaccinations are very very important. Both myxo and VHD kill rabbits very painfully and horribly. Once a bun has one of these diseases there is nothing that can be done to save them.

Myxo is every six months and VHD annually. There have been outbreaks of both all over the country this year.

Katie well summarised.

Can I ask something, I dont know if Milo is covered I suspect not as they havent sent me the vacc's book, he's going to the vets for a check up and book his neuter but wondered if you know if it is harmful to have it if he already has? does that make sense?

Im going to ask the vet anyhow but thought it might be useful to have an idea of it before I go along.

Talk to your vet.... you might get a discount for getting all the buns done together.... but do get them done. It's essential! Also if you are at the vets for vaccines it's a good idea to have a full check over including nail trims (saves stressing the rabbit by making several trips).

Karen... your vet should have vaccination enteries on Milo's records. Not too sure about "overlapping" vaccinations. Do know Loll once had a second myxi after four months. Disscuss with your vet. Think they will want a few weeks between neutering and vaccinating.
