Can anyone recommend a way to shelter the 2 playhouses, even tho we put draft excluding tubing round charlies door the rain is getting on the underneight, his floor is soaked Sad, cant think what to do, nail some plastic to front with a weight on the bottom, or build a roof over a run, but cant do that with the weather the way it is, need something I can do TODAY.

If it is coming in under the door why not put a bit of featherboard or gravel board inside the door along the bottom so the rain can't drip in.

It has a rubber seal to stop it so dont know how its getting in, we have lifted it onto blocks off the ground, its possible it was coming up through the night when the drain got over filled, hubby is sure it drains fine tho, but not sure.

You need to keep a good airflow around the playhouses and that will help with drying out the floor, if it doesn't dry it it can rot and it can also take a long time to dry out in colder weather.

Is the seal one like this: http://www.diy.com/nav/build/insulation/draught-excluders/seals/Stormguard-Metal-Door-Rubber-Seal-Aluminium-10908024&tmcampid=4&tmad=c&ecamp=cse_go?CAWELAID=568448704

If it is that then is just to keep heat in and keep wind out.

No its a rubber seal that goes round the inside or on windows, the door swelt up with the cold so think it got to tight and pulled a section of it off when we opened and close the door. The area thats wet has lino its the sawdust thats soaked, changed it will check again in morning.

Can you face the playhouses in a different direction so maybe the rain is driving in from a different angle??

Hudad asks if the water is appearing at the bottom of the door? If it is he thinks it may be sneaking in through the gaps around the doors. He says it would be worth putting an overlap strip down the left hand side and one fixed to the bottom of the top door to cover the horizontal gap, and also one at the bottom of the bottom door to prevent driving rain getting in underneath. He says some strips of 1/4" ply will do the trick or some thin shiplap cladding.

Better still put the featherboard or gravel board on the outside of the door, attach it to the door so you can still open it and silicone across the top of the board so the water can't get behind it.

I actually have some of the slats from brookes bed frame, the base in the garage, kept them to practice wood burning on, do you think they would work, would have to weather treat them tho, save the trees use what got lol. I am trying to figure out about the wee ones hut, the door is rubbish, look at the damn gaps round it, how on earth they expect that to do for years I have no clue, ive just lined it with the insulation foil, knackered now, hubby going to do the covering tomorow then will see how this sits with the door so know if can do a over lap internally, and a over lap on the bottom of the top door so it can open on its own and not pull the base door open.
We actually plan to do a roofed run once weather gets better, I have all the mesh and half the 2 x 2 framing need to order more from wood yard after new year, but hubby thought corrigated plastic sheeting would work, would be really noisy in the rain and need extra security for windy days but would give them much more shelter and be easier to get to them in the bad weather, which is NOW wish was already done.
