The buns are in need of a manicure, when they were last done someone else done them and showed me where to cut, but me being me I have a couple of questions.

Do I need to cut at a specific angle? Or do they just need to be straight.

If I did cut too close to the quick and there was blood is it true cornflower helps?

Jeeves will be easy to do, Tigger on the other hand not so much. Even a towel doesn't stop her so any tips on this would be great. I'm considering taking her into the house as it will be a new place, she behaves very well in the vets so I'm hoping she may do the same then.

I wish I could help, but i struggle so much doing Buttons' nails, I had to go to the vets last time!! I would also suggest another person helping you! So someone can hold and you can cut! No sure about the cornflower, only because I haven't tried it! I'm sure someone will know soon though!!

I bid you good luck as I just tried to brush Buttons' belly the other day like Jay did in his video and Buttons freaked out big style! His legs came off the floor and was kicking and scratching at me like a cat playing with a ball of string!! Sad

I must have watched that video a hundred times and I still can't do it!! I can't get my hand under Buttons' belly or front paws without him making a run for it under the sofa!! HBWS Jay makes it look so easy when he turns Bertie on his back! The few times I have managed to hold Buttons, trying to turn him over is virtually impossible because he just kicks and wriggles all over the place!! Rolling Eyes No

I found early on with Flo that I could do her front paws if I had wrapped her back end and I could do her back paws if I had covered her head and front end. Now she has got used to it all no blanket is required.

I would say that if you are not comfortable and confident doing it then you would be better to let their vet do it.

It took me and OH years and years to brave doing it ourselves. I could never do it, I just hold her, speak to her and try keep her calm while OH did the actual cutting Smile

This sounds just like Tigger!

That video definitely covered what I needed to know, let's hope our patients are as well behaved as Berie was there!
Im completely confident about doing it, Jeeves will be so well behaved, he's an angel on his back but if Tigger doesn't play ball even in the burrito then I will let the vets do it when I take her for her jab in January.

Re: Cornflower. Do we need to wash it off once the blood has stopped, and do I need to worry if the buns have a go at licking it off.

Marshall wont tolerate being on his back unless his back is against me. I do him by sitting him on my lap side on and holding him close to me so he cant wriggle. It may be a idea to get someone to help you if she wriggles alot, my boyfriends rabbit is the same and he flees as soon as he can so my bf will pick him up and hold him against his chest and i just go around him and cut his nails.

As they said, if your not confidant let the vets do it for you

I am lucky with Snuffles and the Guinea Pigs, I have Paul to hold them whilst I provide the manicure.
