Re: damn damn damn rosie
Keepign an eye on her, cleaning the bottom of her hutch out daily as thats where she makes all the mess, stop any infection getting in, just keep it dry moist and warm is where bacteria breed.

Silly Rosie
That's so close to being healed too. I think you're doing the right thing. Buns hate collars, our Reggie had to have one too and kept bumping into things as she didn't understand her head was suddenly a lot wider She couldn't groom either - when Humum took it off she washed for about an hour.

Re: damn damn damn rosie
Thumper did this too! I remember we took her to the emergency vet (typical Thumper, it was a Saturday!) but it was so long ago, I can't remember what they did....
I do remember she was given a collar though. The poor girl hated every minute of it It was the unhappiest she was in her whole life. I think she found it particularly awful because she couldn't wash her face, which must be quite upsetting for a bun
I'm praying Molly won't pull her stitches out when she is done. I dread to think what she'd be like with one of those collars on
I hope Rosie is ok!

I cried every night when Keegan had to wear a dreaded collar and I had to scratch his itch's for him, and he would think he was washing his ears and he would be washing the inside of the dreaded collar, I hated it!!!! I did take it off now and then but he also was very unhappy and depressed and he was only a youngster

Re: damn damn damn rosie
Its horrible to watch isn't it?
I took Thumper's off every morning before work so she could have a good wash and I kept it off in the evenings when she was in the house too.
Poor things, if only they understood!!

I can imagine it being so awful to watch They can't get to their ears or anything which must be so frustrating.

Re: damn damn damn rosie
Actually the incision looks pretty good. The ends look healed, just a bit apart in the middle but well approximated. I'm sure she will be just fine since you are keeping the incision and her environment clean. No collar of shame vibes being sent!

Re: damn damn damn rosie
Went out this morning and gave the hutch another clean, then cleaned her wound again, its scabbing over at the more open area, made sure flushed it then dried it thoroughly, held her for longer as she was a bit more stressed at being put on her back, took me 5 attempts to lie her down, as soon as she struggles i always let her back up so she doesnt snap her spine. Shes all happy now, sitting watching out her doors.

Re: damn damn damn rosie
I think a collar would stress her even more as she wouldnt be able to go down her ramp to do her toilet, I keep the top level extra clean for sleeping and eating and the bottom is where she does her toilet.

Re: damn damn damn rosie
She had her check up today, was meant to be to get stitches out but she already done that, but he checked the wound for any infection and make sure its healing ok, said shes fine and Ive done well keeping it clean and dry, I am keeping her in her hutch tho for now, wait till its fully healed before she gets out to play in the garden, just cleaning the bottom every morning, which took less than 2 mins this morning because I am doing it daily.

Re: damn damn damn rosie
Shes doing fab, let her out to play today, didnt have much choice cleaning day and no one was there to hold her while I cleaned so she had to get out for half hours play, just kept eye on her then checked wound before and after her play, its fine its almost gone, just a little scab now. She had a ball playing tho, poor girls been so bored shes nibbled her door frame so bad expossing the screws holding the mesh in place, so thats going to have to be sorted asap. trip to b&q tomorow for some strips suggested by other member, hubby have to do it am going for drive to dundee to see my best friend.
