Chewing!
Hi,
My buns have free roam of the garage with a whole range of toys but one of the girls insists of chewing the hutch and she has made such a mess and gnawed totally through the wood on the top. I have tried the deterrant spray from P@H and it doesnt work. Please help!!!

Re: Chewing!
it's difficult really as if they want to chew it they will,
all you can do is offer them toys that they love to chew and play with to distract the areas they are chewing,
sometimes they chew through boredom and sometimes to grind down teeth.
chewing comes naturaly to buns i would chat with a bunny savvy vet and see if they have anything.

Re: Chewing!
Unfortunately buns will not differentiate between what is allowable and what is forbidden to chew. All wood is equal
We have fixed the metal strips of mesh that is used when plastering to form corners on the edges of hutches. This stops the buns getting their teeth into the wood. I am sure there is a technical term for it but I have no idea what

I think they are just called 'edging strips'

Re: Chewing!
We are having this problem with Rory. His latest target is the fringe on my one good rug. He KNOWS he isn't supposed to chew it. He's learned the word 'NO!' real quickly.

Re: Chewing!
Mr Snuffles was a terrible chewer and there is still evidence of him all over the house. The word No meant nothing to him, he would just stand still for a moment and resume his chewing LOL!!
Binky isn't quite so bad I am glad to say. Hope you get it sorted hun.

Re: Chewing!
Tigger is now 2 and is still a cracking chewer. I'm certain there are buns on here older than her who still love a good nibble.
My two always chew what they aren't supposed to and don't chew what they are supposed to, it's an unwritten and unspoken law I think!
