So sorry sweetheart we tried so hard but you died at the vet's this morning
you had a tumour







Tiny Paw Prints

These are my tiny paw prints, so perfect and so small.
These tiny little paw prints, no longer touch the ground at all.

Not one tiny paw print, for now I have my wings.
These tiny little paw prints are now meant for other things.

You will hear my tiny paw prints, in the patter of the rain.
Gentle drops like angel tears, of joy and not from pain.

You will see my tiny paw prints, in each butterfly's lazy dance.
I'll let you know I'm with you, if you give me just a chance.

You will see my tiny paw prints, in the rustle of the leaves.
I will whisper names into the wind, and call each one that grieves.

Most of all, these tiny paw prints, are found within your heart
Because even though I'm gone, we'll never truly part.

So sorry to heat that you have lost another precious bun whilst in your care Maysie and Mike. I know you will have done all you could but the outcome for buttons was inevitable.

He wasn't boarding here at the time although he is one of our regular customers, his owner rang for advice as he had a dental last Monday but had stopped eating last Saturday and hadn't eaten since, they had kept him in at the vet's but they didn't x-ray him at all and sent him home on Thursday morning without any pain relief or any meds at all only a box of Recovery and a Fibreplex.
The owner didn't know how to syringe feed and was also at work and so we offered to syringe feed him day and night and give him the meds he needed, so she dropped him off with his companion Snow White.
Mike checked his temperature and it was dangerously low and he rang the owner to say that Buttons needed to see a vet straight away and Mike dashed him down to the emergency vet in Middlesborough meeting the owner on the way who also went.
He was given a metroclopramide injection and a vetragesic injection and we brought him home as the vet said he would be better here with us as we can give him one to one attention and meds and fluids around the clock .

Although he was given his meds round the clock and syringe fed he didn't really respond and was really quite out of it, he started to breathe quite abnormally this morning and Mike took him down to our vet's and as she was just about to check his temperature he started to breathe rapidly and Mike picked him up and held him and he died in his arms.

The vet felt a lump in his abdomen which was hard and said that he had a tumour and that was the reason he had not been eating, she also said he was a lot older than the owners thought he was.

He use to board with us a lot and was one of the first bunnies to board with us so he meant a lot to us and was a cute little man.

So sad, especially as you knew the little chap so well. It is good that he was with someone when he died rather than just curling up and quietly passing alone.

I am so sorry Maysie That poem is beautiful, brought a lump to my throat.

Maysie, you know I hardly ever come to this section of the Forum because I just cannot take it. Something moved me to tonight. It's a bit after midnight. I saw this post and it scared me. I didn't read the entire post at first because i was running through the names of your bunnies, not remembering a Buttons or a Nethie that looked like that!

I'm so sorry to hear another beloved bunny friend has moved on to the Bridge. Binky free Buttons! Binky forever free!
