Recent rabbit rescue
These seven rabbits are very lucky to be alive! We had a call on the 16th Jan from a member of the public who told us there were a few rabbits sitting at the entrance of a local theme park. Although she asked the theme park to help, she was told by them that the rabbits were not their problem so she called us.
We drove for 40 minutes worrying if the rabbits would still be there. When we arrived, sure enough these little buns were sitting outside the theme park, which is very near to a main road. Some of them were easy to pick up, but some darted in the thick bushes which made things more difficult! We managed to catch 6 in 40 minutes, but one was more troublesome. She wasn't bothered that we were trying to save her life, and at some points sat two foot away from us eating a leaf or cleaning herself, however due to the thick bushes and brambles we couldn't reach her.
It started getting dark and we heard a fox so we knew we had to do something! The little bun ran out from the bushes, straight towards the busy road. Thankfully she changed her mind and turned around, back into the car park. After two and a half hours, we finally managed to catch her.
All rabbits are female. One we are concerned about as she is very skinny. They are all eating well and at the moment are staying in a large group, however when they are ready to find homes we will split them. All the rabbits are very friendly and not afraid of people at all

Oh that is awful - they are so beautiful. How could anyone just dump them like that? And shame on the theme park for not being bothered at all!!
Thank goodness they are safe with you now. The work you do is just fantastic, and is helping so many needy buns

They are very sweet. I saw your post on FB last night and I commented on the theme parks FB page about it.
Glad they are doing ok. I still can't believe that they didn't help.

Re: Recent rabbit rescue
Aren't they just stunning?
They look like they're probably all related. Let's hope none of them are carrying kits.
Well done all of you for rounding them up
Shame on the person who dumped them and double shame on the theme park for their attitude

I think the older black one and possibly the harley who gave us the runaround might be. There is, of course the possibility that all except the tiny sickly baby are up the duff :\
I really hope they aren't. We already have one litter that was recently born here. We would let them have their babies and care for them, but I really hope they aren't in the nicest possible way.

I am certain we did. I don't know if you know the theme park I am hinting at, but basically next to their theme park is a small wooded area, which is thankfully fenced in! All the rabbits stuck together in this bushy area and we were walking through the woody bit for 2 and a half hours. If there were anymore we would have seen them. The way we caught the last one was because she returned to the place she last saw her friends.

The theme park still haven't contacted us to explain, even though a lot of people have written on their wall.

We wouldn't have knowingly left a single one. As I said, the first 6 we caught in under 40 mins, but we weren't giving up on that last harly!
I need to name the buns. I wanted a theme though... I was thinking of naming them after the rides at this theme park

The names of the rides sound aggressive!
Runaway train the rabbit
I can imagine phoning my vets to book them in with names like that

Re: Recent rabbit rescue
The difficult bun could be called Waltzer because she danced her way around you!
Well done for making sure these little gals are safe. I don't know why people can't just take their unwanted buns somewhere sensible like a rescue. Why dump them in the middle of nowhere. It is just sick.
Sending non-pregnancy vibes.

Waltzer! I love it! Now I need 6 more names to fit in with the theme
Sadly, so many rescues are overflowing. My waiting list is ridiculous - there are just so many unwanted rabbits out there.
They weren't in the middle of nowhere, they were next to a main road... made no sense to me either The theme park is opposite a travel lodge, so maybe the people thought that behind the bush was miles of woodland? I don't know. Still not a good excuse!

Re: Recent rabbit rescue
It's crazy how people think domestic rabbits can survive in the wild. My step-sister told me that she "released her bunny into the wild" - I soon let her know what I thought of that!
It was too little, too late though
