Rehomed Kenko - male rabbit - SURREY

Post by AnnaT Thu Oct 17, 2013 3:03 pm

Kenko - male rabbit - SURREY Ken_zps5b5f6693

This is Kenko.
Approx DOB - September 2012

Looking for a home with a spayed female rabbit for company.

He has come to us because his previous owners rehomed two rabbits from a friend who turned out to be male and female and they had babies. He is one of the babies from the litter.

Unfortunately Kenko had terrible front teeth and he has had these removed as they were growing into his tongue and causing him discomfort. Although he is missing these teeth, it doesn't cause him too many problems. He can eat his pellets and hay, however you need to cut up his veg for him. Apart from that, he's a perfectly normal, happy rabbit who has been with us since May 2013 so we are really keen for him to find a home soon!

He is a cheeky lad who has been neutered, vaccinated, wormed and has seen our vet. We ask for a minimum adoption fee of £40.

Located in Old Coulsdon, Surrey.

Yes please Smile
That's really kind of you, thank you Smile

He's a lovely boy, but I think his colouring is putting people off. I had some horrible comments about him and his brother being ugly recently Sad
He hasn't got a bad bone in his body... unless you try to look in his gummy mouth (obviously I had to when he was healing up!) and he wasn't impressed!

Ugly! Oh he's far from being ugly how can anyone say a rabbit is ugly they are far nicer inside and out than most humans. I love his colour! I wish we could take him but we are struggling as it is.

I will put him on my Tuckerbunnies Bunny Boarding page on Facebook as most people that go on have rabbits and hopefully someone will think he is absolutely beautiful like we do and give him a forever home. I will do that now for you it's no problem.

Simon has just had a lower incisor tooth removed that had grown and she tidied up his back molars up they love him at the vet's as he is such a character  Very Happy

I'm very sorry to hear that Simon's teeth grew back. We no longer use the vets he was treated at and we were assured by the vet who preformed the procedure that the teeth had been completely removed.

We will refund you the vet costs for the lower incisor removal as the teeth were supposed to be removed on adoption - please PM or email me and we will be happy to sort this out;

Oh it's no bother we don't want refunding we have a lot of dental buns Anna.

Sometimes when vet's remove the incisor teeth if they leave any tooth root in they can grow back, it does happen. It keep's growing back but the dental buns have check up's every so many months and so we usually get on top of any tooth problems.

We certainly don't want refunding and don't apologise like I said it can and does happen. We are just happen we have Surrey Simon  Very Happy

We also get charged charity cost so dentals are cheaper.

Ok - that is very kind of you, but the vet did assure us that he had got the whole tooth out including the root.

Not happy about this at all as we do not like to give our adopters unexpected vet bills!

Anna, we had *exactly* the same with Theo. No sign of an incisor for months and months then all of a sudden he grew a lower fang, and it grew fast once it decided it was coming. It was taken out again and so far no sign of it coming back, but it still could.

I don't think any vet can be 100% sure they have removed every root cell and as far as I know it only takes a few for a tooth to re-grow. Like the Tuckerbunnies the cost is not an issue and we would not dream of the rescue paying it, it's just one of the things you deal with when you take on a bun with any known / previous health issues  Thumbs Up

What means ugly? This is a lovely Bunnie.
Has HH ever considered a founding scheme for Bunnies in needs?
I'm involved with various charities and give donations on a frequent base. I don't think I can take on more bunnies as it would upset my pair to much. But anyone in need-fine the jar with money for animals in need is sitting on the window sill.

This is just terrible. The poor boy. Anna I have seen encouraging news of people bonding rabbits and six of them. Wow.
How is he with other bunnies. Have you tried to pair him up?
My situation is I got French Lop Bertie who is of cause neutered and very social and Bubbles a mini lop who can be defensive. Do you think it would be possible to add another Buck. Please Hoppers I need opinions as I consider to take him on maybe with a girl to pair up to?
How would you approach the bonding if two new buns join. I think it may be easier or not???

Hi everyone,
On Tuesday I will travel to meet Kenko and Coffe and hopefully they will reveal who wants to join us at Marsden Manor Farm.
Prepared the warren with separate gage and puppy pen for " the boy"
and will attach another outside run cage to the existing system to enable me to bond them.
Hope this will go well, but if not have got plan b to work it out. If they really won't get on then I have to get another lady and have two pairs. Watch the space Smile albino albino Love albino albino albino albino

Can I please alert you all to this lovely fella.
Since I have taken his brother in I feel so sorry for him being on his own.
He deserves to be bonded with a lovely Lady and build his own warren.
He is very friendly and greeted me straight away like we would have known for some time.
If you consider to get a hunbun for your doe get in touch with Anna at furry friends and visit him. I was so far the only person interested and they have been at the rescue since October last year

Kenko sure loved those treats you gave him Smile
Again, these boys were split by the previous owner as they started scrapping (both were entire). We wouldn't split a bonded pair without good reason Smile
They have actually been in longer than October - I believe it was August they came in, but only went up for rehoming in October as we had to make sure they had recovered after their operations.
