Hello! Would love to chat!

Hi everyone!

I am a Mama of a 2 and a half year old boy, have a husband, 2 cats and last but not least 4 rabbits.

2 of my rabbits are dwarf lops - Angel (doe) Stardust (buck) they came from the RSPCA
the other 2 are mixed - their Mum was a rescued/abused wild rabbit (!) and their Dad a rex - they mated before the wild doe was in turn rescued by my friend who already had a couple of rabbits. That lovely rabbit was already pregnant, unbeknownst to my friend, and when her 6 kits were born she had suddenly gone from 2 rabbits to 9! When they were ready I agreed to take 2 of the babies (Celeste and Moonlight) to ease the burden for my friend.

So my 4 are a funny bunch. They are in hutches overnight but are free range in my enclosed garden in the day. I am struggling that as my Celeste is refusing to come in at night so we are spending 2/3/4 hours a night trying to get him in which is a nightmare.

Anyway I am sure I have loads of things to waffle on about. Nice to "meet" you all.

My trio all respond to the rattle of a food bowl and having a set routine, they allow me to pick them up in the evening because they know when they get into the hutch dinner will be waiting for them.

They even stand on their back legs so I can reach them easier and always come in in the same order.

Mine seem to take turns being really naughty and refusing to come in. Celeste used to be the best at it and now he is impossible. He is still out now which I am gutted about I have been trying since 3 this afternoon with him. I can not train him. And I cant catch him - he is far too fast he is very wild. When he was indoors for a while he was lovely and cuddly and would let me hold him for ages but not now.

My other wild rabbit, Moonlight, is a total delight. She regularly comes up to me and licks my fingers. The lops generally keep me at arms length. I would love to have a closer relationship with all of them but it doesnt seem to work... I think I expected them to be more like cats???? I dont know.

BUT having said all that, I ADORE them. I feel my life is so enriched for having them and taking care of them. Its just more like the way you feel when you love someone who is just sometimes fond of you!

HOORAY!!!! He is in and they are all happily playing! Not I just need to come up with a solution for the issue!!

helloo. i have 5 rabbits - 2 of them are wild rabbits so i know how exciteableand impossible they can be. I have one that jumps on me and digs all day non stop while i am trying to do work at my desk and chases the cats like a bullet and both of my wild buns have escaped and been impossible to catch - one came back coz he loves his boyfriend Barney and the other came back coz we found her hidey hole. however i agree with the food/bed time trick - doesn't that worl with Celeste? lovely name by the way.

Hi there, Glad you found your way here and that you managed to get the norty Celeste in. They can be such ratbags when they want to be! I know I have one just the same!

Also its nice to hear from someone else who has a wild rabbit - my experience of rabbits is surely limited but in my experience the wild rabbits handle extremely differently from the lops & other domesticated breeds I have met. Moonlight isnt bad actually, she comes up to me and licks me and is very sweet. But Celeste is just hell bent on being... well... wild!!! I dont know where to begin to train them all but especially him.

I am thinking of sending the 4 on a bonding holiday because Celeste & Stardust really hate each other... so maybe that could have the duel benefit of sending them back better behaved? [is there a hopeful emoticon?]

All my rabbit names are of a celestial thing... I got the idea when we went to the RSPCA to choose Angel & Stardust... rabbits seem to sort of have one foot in this world and one in the fairy world so I decided to stick with that for inspiration. Then we got Moony & Celeste. We arent planning on getting any more but if for some reason we did we have already chosen Europa and Comet and Sunshine as the next names!

Our cats are Yin (black) and Yang (white) they are very fluffy with long hair & 9 years old.

Hi again!! I dont know how to post pics! And I am seriously short on time at the moment! Any quick tips on how to do it so I can show off my buns?

do it through www.photobucket.com . is really easy to do - you just upload pics there then it generates links for you to post them here.

I will have a go tonight when my husband is home at the moment I am looking after my 2 year old & the 4 rabs who are acting very suspiciously (see other thread I started!) so cant try anything new like photobucket!! Thanks though I will do it I would love to show you my babies!
