Wild Bunny has myxie Empty Wild Bunny has myxie

Post by Josephine Tue Mar 17, 2009 11:37 pm

Roger has just brought in a little wild bunny and I am sure it has myxie. Its eyes are stuck shut and there is a lesion on its nose. All my rabbits have had their jabs but since I know that vacinated rabbits have contracted the disease, I am keeping the little rabbit well away from them. I have put him in a cardboard carrier with lots of hay and some water and he is in the garage. He is huddled up in a corner of the box and I don't really expect him to last the night. I am not really sure what else to do with him, any suggestions will be most welcome.

Oh no Jo, how awful Sad Poor bun, I guess the thing to do would be to take him to be PTS, he doesn't stand a chance really, poor mite. It's horrid, I remeber seeing them on the farm when I was little, nightmares.

How sad, I can only echo the others. It will be a release for the poor little mite to be helped to sleep.

Oh Jo bless your heart. I hate seeing wildies suffer. I echo what others have said. The "natural" death from Myxi is horrific.

Thanks everyone, I have just got back from the vet, where he//she is going to be PTS. I don't drive, so I spent half the morning looking for a box to put him/her in that was'nt too small, but not so big that he/she would be wobbling around as I was walking down the road. It takes me about 15 minutes to walk to the vet. Anyway I hope his/her suffering is over now. I think it may have been a little girl but the genitals were so sore looking I did not want to probe too much. Bless the poor wee mite. I hope the people who introduced this horrific disease suffer twice as much as the poor bunnies do. Oh dear I am bubbling now. Thanks again everyone. Crying or Very sad

At least that little one knew that for just a short space of time, a human cared enough about it to help it. I'm really sorry Jo, That would have ruined my day completely Sad RIP little wild one xx
