Hello Empty Hello

Post by dalsicle Mon Oct 18, 2010 10:44 am

I'm new to this forum and to bunnies.

I adopted a rescue bunny two weeks ago and I'm hooked already. Her name is Bob (has to be said Blackadder style). She had been left wandering the streets and when caught and returned her owners didn't want to know so she was handed in to a local vet, she stayed there for almost two weeks before I found out about her. I'm told she's around 18 months old.

Hello Bob

Right now she is living in a rabbit cage but it's not really big enough, her new 4ft double level hutch should be arriving in the next couple of days and we will be building her a nice big run in the next few weeks.

Sorry I didn't give a proper intro earlier, there was a knock at the door and it was Bob's new hutch being delivered.

Phase one of the Bob complex is complete, her hutch is built and we've started digging out her run area and laying slabs. We've just got to finish her paved area, level off the rest and plant grass and enclose it all in a run. She'll have an area of around 10 foot by 6 foot.

A bit more about Bob:
When she first arrived she was very nervous but with daily handling she is getting a lot friendlier and more confident. She has started to get a bit territorial over her bed/nest so a trip to the vet for a quick spay is in order when she's fully settled. I need to get her vaccinated too.
Like I said she's my first bun so she's teaching me how to look after her.

I'd love to maybe get her some company around springtime, I was thinking of a neutered male, is that the best combo?

I can't believe how quickly she gets through hay, she eats like a horse.

So any tips and advice for a newbie bun owner?

Hi

Welcome to HH! Lovely to have you and Bob here.

Sounds to me that you and bob are doing brilliantly. She has a fab life with you and her home sounds wonderful.....

Its brilliant that she loves her Hay, its the best thing for her. Lovely to hear she is coming out of her shell, she is loving you as much as you are loving her. Thumbs Up

Buns love company and lots of buns are bonded with the same sex as well as the oppositte. I dont know lots about it (there are lots of people on this site who do though) but Im sure its more about what personalities the buns are as to whether they get on.

Please do post any questions you may have, there are some real experts on here and everyone is friendly and happy to help.

Looking forward to more pics too.

Squeeeeee!!!!!!! She is absolutely gorgeous Love Love Love Love

So glad that her owners dumped her. The thought of her just not being looked after is horrible. Glad that she survived her ordeal and now has a fabulous loving home. I have a bun, Felix, who was a stray too. It is awful how people think you can just let them loose.
