Milly 1996-2011
[img][/img]
Milly came to us in 1999, we were living on Army camp in Norfolk...her owners didn't care much for her and her sister, they would go away and leave an opened can of catfood in their garden and leave them to it. Fibber (then named Sox) befriended us first, she would sneak in our kitchen window and make herself at home, this went on for a while until we were actually inviting her in ourselves. We knew she belonged to someone else but after her 'owners' were posted to Germany and left their animals behind i claimed Fibber straight away, she was as good as 'ours' anyway. We had noticed Milly (then called Hamish) wandering the barracks like her sister had..she was more timid and not as brave as Fibber. Myself and my neighbour discussed taking Milly in....our neighbours didn't want her and the hubby and i didn't really want 2 cats....thank god i changed my mind! We talked about taking 'Hamish' to the local rescue, but when it came down to it, i just couldn't do it. So Hamish, quickly renamed 'Milly' joined us with her sister Sox, renamed 'Fibber'. Anyone who saw Noels House Party in the late 90's may remember the frog named Fibber, well thats where her name came from, meaning 'my little friend'
My 'babies' fitted right in and a couple of years later my husband left the army and we moved back home to Yorkshire to settle and start a family. Fibber and Milly of course came with us, and a couple of years after that we had our daughter Kiera. The cats adored this little baby and became her little protectors, never far from her side, devoted as ever. More years passed and we moved again, just to the next village. This is when Edward 'claimed' us, he was so tiny, i bottle fed him and loved him as much as the others. Milly was especially close to Edward, they would lay together and groom each other, Fibber was a bit more reserved, she was the 'Top cat' afterall
Milly started to get ill back in September 2010, we started medication...it didn't work....we tried more medication....it didn't work. More and more, different types of tablets...blood tests...nothing came up. The vet said it was highly likely that Milly had a form of cancer and a biopsy was the only way of confirming this, but because of her age and that she had a slight heart murmer, the chances of losing her under anethstetic were high. We listened as were told about treatment which would help should cancer be diagnosed...the prognosis wasn't good and we didn't want Milly being stressed for the last few weeks/months of her life so we decided against the biopsy and opted for steroids instead, which would mask the symptoms, giving us some more time with our Precious Milly.
Thursday, 7th January...the steroids weren't helping...Milly was in a mess, and i knew she was in pain when i was trying to clean her up. We made the appointment at the vets for later that day...we had a feeling that the time had come, hubby couldn't come, he just couldn't face it. So i took my Milly, hoping for some sort of miracle..some other drug that we hadn't tried...anything, but the vet agreed it was time. Milly fell asleep while i held her beautiful little face in my hands, looking deep into her eyes i told her i loved her sooo much, while showering her face with kisses. I am so grateful that this beautiful little creature came into my life, i'm just sorry that i couldn't do more
God bless you Milly Moggy, i bloody love you, and i miss you so much already xxx

Jo I just have tears streaming reading this. Your situation with Milly is very like Mr Darcy's. I know how painful this must have been for you. The heartbreak is horrendous. I offer you all my love at this time. Rest well at the Bridge dear, sweet Milly You were so loved and will be missed everyday xxxx

Thanks guys, it means a lot
We have Milly at home now. We decided on a cremation for her and i picked out a beautiful wooden urn, its a cat curled up sleeping, which we have placed on our hearth. Just got to remember the good times now, i miss her so much though x
