Oh the joys of puberty!! :/
Woweee this last week has been tiresome! Over the last week or so Roo has been turnin increasingly nuts! As im sure some of you already know, im pretty new to all this house bunny stuff, so therefore I had absolutely no idea bunnies go through puberty! When I first brought her home, she was an angel, and I mean a real butter wouldnt melt angel! Placid, chilled, litter trained, NEVER chewed or pooed outside of her cage! Spent most of her time either sat up with me on the sofa, or having a snooze infront of the heater!
But over the last week she has been, as I have said, turning increasingly nuts! All her old well trained habits have virtually disappeared, she has now turned into a rampant, sex crazed, chewin and pooin obsessed, toy humping crazy case! The stuffed bunny I made her, she well and truely owns him now it seems, poor little thing gets absolutely no say in her amourous advances! Still, least I can say she loves him so it wasnt a wasted effort my making him on xmas day! At first all sorts of questions were comin into my head, 'Am I doin something wrong? am I spoiling her too much? or too little? is she stressed? Have I given her too much freedom too soon? After all she has had a full health check and is 100% perfect, so surely its somethin I must have been doing! Then I discovered this.....

-loss of previously good litterbox habits.....CHECK, I try puttin her in her litter tray as she does it, but she hops out of it and poos next to it in protest!
-spraying urine (a sign of love, but still...).....CHECK, got Ryans leg the other day, I found it funny, he didnt! I tried tellin him its a sign of love, but he wasnt convinced!
-mounting/humping of objects such as toys or your unsuspecting head.....CHECK, in this case its her stuffed toy, poor thing! I swear it actually shows fear when it sees her comin!
-growling and boxing...Not much as yet, but im sure its in the pipeline!
-territorial biting/nipping.....CHECK, a freind of mine came round the other day, went into Rubys cage to stroke her, Roo lunged and nipped...not hard, there was no blood, but it looks like only Ryan and I are the only ones with permition to enter, we have never been biten yet!
-aggressive/possessive lunging and biting.....CHECK, as above!
-circling and honking.....CHECK, her 'dancing' is often twinned with a little serenade!
-destructive chewing and digging (especially in females)....CHECK, and again out pop the poos of protest when I try to stop her and give her stuff she is allowed to chew!
Soooo....there we have it, theres my answer it seems! Looks like puberty rearing its ugly head, she is behaving just like Kevin the teenager from Harry Enfield and chums! Bless her, its probably really annoying her that it not making me mad, I just laugh at her! She has such attitude for such a little dot! And I LOVE it!! Thats my girl!! I dont want no pushover, I want a challenge! I love how she knows exactly what she wants and she wont stop til she gets it! Her sheer determination is amazing!
Mind you, who knows, another 3 months of this and I might be hopin and praying that neutering her will calm her down!

Re: Oh the joys of puberty!! :/
Wow hun this is serious puberty. Not all bunnies go through it but it sounds like you have a real hormone machine on your hands there. Sorry I swear she was a good bunny
Jay has had some teenager isssues with Stewie I reckon. I can promise you that neutering will seriously help and also that this time next year her bad behaviour will be a distant memory....

Re: Oh the joys of puberty!! :/
I was reading this earlier thinking to myself, thank goodness taffie the new girl hasnt hit puberty yet as I want her neutered first, brought them in 5 mins a go and humping wars have started. Thankfully even though neutered nougat is humping back because ideally temprament wise I want nougat as the more dominant. Theres nothing worse than a high, wired insane rabbits in charge!! lol
Re: Oh the joys of puberty!! :/
Luna was EXACTLY the same although I loved my grumpy girl and now she is neutered and it's been a good 8 months or so she is a different bun!! It is lovely to embrace their stroppyness though, I always found it quite humerous hehe

Oh dear......
Sounds like a neuter is in order to me.
How funny that she has waited until her feet are well and truly under the table!!!! ha ha

Re: Oh the joys of puberty!! :/
LOL, Rosie turned a bit like that, but not as extreme! She was constantly trying to dig her way out under the carpet, started declining my offers of cuddles and then started spraying I thought it was Hutch but the rescue lady said he was a very clean rabbit and that it's Rosie being hormonal. She sprayed up the curtains, all over the carpet and covered the indoor hutch I bought for them both She was speyed over a week ago and today she let me cuddle her, but I have had to move her outside as she became so destructive and wee's up the walls etc She was humping Hutch's head earlier, poor Hutch he doesn't know whats hit him! I love reading about Roo, she makes me laugh the cheeky little bunster
