What would be your top tips for someone who is new at taking care of buns or wasnt quite sure if they were doing the right thing?
Mine would be......

2) Neutering always
3) Patience, Love and understanding.
4) Plenty of Space
5) A space where they can hide and feel secure

Re: Whats your top Tip.
feed them pellets not mix, with plenty of hay and always fresh water
make sure they have lots of space and preferably a freind
they can run fast! so if your letting them play outside either make sure your garden is bunny proof or buy a secure run
lots of mental stimulation, tunnels, toys etc
buy lots of books and learn as much as you can

1. Take time to learn about rabbits before taking them on
2. Insure them
3. Have a contingency fund against anything unexpected
4. Intoduce new foods gradually
5. Peeing around your hutch will keep foxes away.

Actually No. 5 should read, 'Get your husband to pee around the hutch while you covertly film him and put it on youtube'.

Re: Whats your top Tip.
Nickie you're bad!
Most of the things suggested above are great.
1. Hay, hay, hay.
2. Spend as much time as you can with them to discover their personalities, likes and dislikes. Every bun is different.

Top 5
1) Read about bunnies, especially bunny body language
2) Get them neutered and if you aren't don't complain about their stroppy behaviour (had this so many times with a friend and I'm fed up of telling her to get her rabbit neutered)
3)Feed them pellets only and LOADS of hay
4)Make sure you can afford vet fees if and when the time arises
5) Read MORE about them, join a HH , ask people for help if you need it...I've had mine a year and I'm still learning new things as I'm sure all of you are! Very complexed creatures which are often percieved as being simple and boring. So READ READ READ READ READ!!!!...and maybe watch videos on youtube of rabbits.

Re: Whats your top Tip.
pee around the hutch lol Seriously though, I didn't know that would work. My little boy will be delighted to hear he can pee in the garden without repercussion!
my top tips: in no particular order....
1) research LOADS on rabbits and don't stop researching as you learn stuff all the time.
2) try and recreate a natural environment for them to live in that is clean, warm, dry, fun, stimulating and safe from predators.
3)provide a companion (s)
4) neuter and vaccinate
5) feed them lots of fresh good quality hay and ENJOY them
the more you put into these wonderful creatures, the more you get out of them.
